It would appear that the Travel Agencies have also been greatly affected by the demise of CTA.



At the beginning of the year Direct Traveller changed their website and simultaneously increased their prices by 30% overnight. I often wondered why DT did this, maybe had foresight of what was to come. I became a fan of CyprusPremier who then offered the best deals, hotel only and Holiday Packages for North Cyprus. Surprisingly their prices have also increased by approx 25% in respect of quite a few hotels and Package Deals from the UK immediately following the CTA crash.



It would appear that some Travel Agencies may have been receiving Government subsidies for booking certain hotels and using CTA?! It wouldn't surprise me.



Well, I already know quite a few who won't be coming out as often as they would have liked to. So, is this the start of a slow decline in the tourist trade or is it a short term knee-jerk reaction of one of the main players?

I think more British will be coming via the south and using well known companies like easyjet, thompson, monarch and perhaps even BA. Atlasjet/CTA having tarnished the northern route and people will start to think that it is easier to deal with a UK based company.

my kids are flying to larnica and ba business class was cheaper than other companies economy !!!!

I go further and say it is not just the British. A fair number of Turkish Cypriots have also been stung once too many times now, and are bound to learn their lesson. They too will be making a beeline to Larnaca, or at the very least steering clear of CTA or any reincarnation.

We often come BA to Larnaca and have had great flights. Will only fly to Ercan when we have to, like when we bring our dog over.
