I thought fly tipping is illegal? Came down the mountian track above Malatya by the waterfall and there was loads of rubbish that had been pushed over into the ravine by a JCB and the track was almost impassable due to waste material lying on the road ready we presume to be tipped over this morning. Once again we are in the position where the ravines are being filled with all kinds of rubbish. I don't understand why it is being allowed. The people who live in Malatya must know it's happening as the trucks are going past thier homes with nowhere to go as they have to turn round once they've off loaded thier rubbish and come back through the villiage. We took photos yesterday of all the rubbish and will go down the the Beledyse Office this morning.

Well after the storms of last year and January, you would have thought that a lesson would have been learned, its one of my pet hates here.

Once again a lot is said about it at the time, but the following day its all forgotten about, why cant the authorities see what they are doing to the island,it is beautiful here.

I wish you the best of luck.

The people in Malatya do know about the tipping and they have complained to the Alsancak Belediye. They said they knew about it and would be clearing it.

Hi

Very interesting subject as I live in Malatya and for the last 3 weeks tipping in to the ravine between Malatya and Incesu is an every day occurence up to 7.30 in the evening. Apart from the serious consequence of filling in the ravine we are having to live with major dust problems along with tippers, Cement mixers and JCBS continually on the go every day.

Seriously, do they want us all to move back to the land of our birth, I am beginning to think they do.

Would welcome some serious comments on this

PS the Cement mixers also discharge the remnants of their load in to the ravine as well

Para 2. I think you may be right, but I do think that they do not want us to take our investment money with us.

Strange isn't it, that it's such a small island, everyone allegedly knows everyone or is related, gossip can spread like wildfire and yet blatant unlawful acts that seriously damage the island, it's economy and environment can be carried out in broad daylight, right under the nose of the various authorities...

I once heard North Cyprus described as pockets of beauty amongst lots of shite. This I presumed was a referral to the dumped builders rubbish which can be seen all over the Island. Its seems to increase by the day.

Any one ever seen a skip on the island? All that building and I have never seen one on a site.Do they have such a thing as local tips for waste disposal?

Like it or leave it is the usual response. It only seems to bother the Brits is what I was told.

Anyone any suggestions as to who I should show all the photographs of vehicles tipping to? on the off chance that it would help put a stop to it.

Stop the vehicles take their names ) ant jot down the reg No. show them the photos taken and ask that this is their last time let them know they are being reported..If you do this to every lorry load you see they might just get the idea..good luck..It a crying shame !

Has the tipping stopped at Malatya? Has anyone cleaned up all the rubbish? We took piccys of the man and the wagon when he was doing it. We made sure we also took a photo of the number plate and went down to the Beledyse Office with the pictures. They did seem very interested in the guy and the number plate and got quite upset when we told them the guy told us he had been given permission by the Beledyse to tip in the ravine.

Now we're back home would appreciate an update please.

Sue someone else may be able to help you with this one, but I just wanted to say very well done for doing what you did, lets hope if more people do this more of the time the police may well get fed up with it too.If only fed up with us all going to report the matter would be enough to get up their goat !

Lapta belidyere do skips and very cheap too but its builders who dump large loads of rubbish and expect the people who have bought the properties to live among it. In Karsiyaka at the weekend I watched a builder clear land with a JCB into the ravine, they dont care about anything other than the next lump of money they get from someone who has been daft enough to buy a piece of land or off plan house. There's always is someone unaware enough to keep them in large 4 wheel drives but how I wish people buying would do more homework stop and think where the electric / water etc is coming from to these sites and save themselves a whole lot of heartache in the future.
