Hi All,

Could any board member comment on the above.

1 Where can it be bought, and how much?

2. How long does it last if used for purely decorative reasons?

3 Does it fade in bright sunlight?

4.Can anyone comment after say 12 months use?

5 Are there different types and manufacturers?

Thanks,

wyn

Wyn,

Not sure if anyone has this info, but your sure to get some info.

If you do not, you might want to contact someone like SeaTerra in Girne, as I know they have used this type of stuff in quite a few of their developements.

Hi,

I believe that you are buying through the same builder as us and someone on our site has put down astro turf. Perhaps the builder will let you have his details. I think he is called Martin at Malatya.

Wyn

We have astro turf on our kids play area.

For the full ground prep, drainage shingle etc underneath, underfelt and the top grass, it's about GBP22 a square meter.

Our was done by a chap called Alpey in Alsancak 05338777671

Are you thinking of building a coral and stable for the donkey!!

Cheers

Brian

Wyn,

I made a post on artificial grass on the Palm Bay View thread. On recently looking up "Easy Lawns" on the North Cyprus Yellow Pages it appears that there has been a managment change. Paul on 0542 874 5431 now appears to run the show. He also has an E Mail contact of chryscyprus@hotmail.com

For your consideration.

Hi proud but unbowed,

In one of my many jobs at the moment, I am working at the Upper school in Sharnbrook, and they have had astroturf down for 10 years, never changed it, its not changed colour, the kids use it every day, Rushden and Diamonds football Club use it every week and its still immaculate!

Dont have a scooby what it costs, but its worth it (- should be made by L'oreal!!!)

Hi Chris,

Ironings out. They wont let her have anything that could be used as a weapon, in case

she attacks the warden again.

She cut his toes off, when she was mowing the lino in her cell. Poor soul!

I have two neighbours with "Astro turf". It was quite expensive to have laid, but looked very good for a while. The problem comes if you are not around to look after it. The weeds here in Cyprus will get a foothold anywhere and then they are away. My neighbours have large weeds pushing past the edges of their "lawn", and in a couple of places straight through the middle of it.

Nothing seems to stop Cyprus weeds (concrete, tarmac, membrane etc), unless you or someone else can give them a spray.

I have astroturf in my garden - got it through Paul 0542 874 5431 - it is fantastic - been down over a year - not a weed in sight - I think when the weeds come through it means that the foundation has not been done properly -Paul's guys did an excellent job.

Apart from no maintenance it does not use any water - maybe Girne Belediye (who use tanker loads of water on their scruffy grass) should take note - it is also very easy on the eye. I can definitely recommend it.

The weeds may not necessarily be under the grass. Seeds can settle on the top and then grow. It's the same with gravel. We have a few weeds appear but when you pull them out they are on top of the membrane not below it.

It is worth getting a few quotes from different suppliers as prices vary even for the same make of grass.

I know that Tolga from Karsiyaka has laid some Easy Lawn in Esentepe but I don't know where exactly.

You can get all the information you need from Paul on 0542 874 5431, the price depends on the type of grass and how much ground preperation is required.

We had our lawn fitted over 12 months ago, its not astro turf but a thick, springy life like grass, but then that all depends on budget. Its still as green and fresh looking as the day it was fitted, almost maintenance free too apart from the few leaves from the neighboring tree. Choice Floors fitted our artificial grass and we couldn't be happier. Our garden is on their website at http://www.choice-floors.co.uk
