Met a Greek Military Doctor (doing a one year medical course in Bristol) at a recent cocktail party and he told me interesting facts about these two drinks. Ouzo is a chemically manufactured spirit where as Raki is distilled using natural ingredients. He won't touch Ouzo but will drink Raki when he can source it! Anyone else heard this? Richard

Raki unfortunately killed the great Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Not a drink that takes my fancy.

I lived in Greece for 7 yrs and was told by an old Greek man that if you drink Ouzo the mossie's will leave you alone, as the Ouzo permeates through your skin, and they don't like the smell. Fact or fiction ? I am sure someone will advise me otherwise from the forum. James
