If you enter South Cyprus using a UK passport you will require to present your UK driving license to purchase insurance for your vehicle. A TRNC license will not be accepted. If you hold a UK passport and have passed your test in the North, it may well be that you will require to take a new test in the South, to enable you to drive there.







The photo on a UK photo-card version of a UK Driving license must be renewed every 10 years. The first photos will start to expire in July 2008.



Licence holders should ensure that the DVLA has a current address because a renewal reminder will be sent when the photo is due to expire. The expiry date is shown at field 4b on the licence.

My brotherin law who is a senior police officer in the North assured me today that this was being implemented , hope this helps .

we have purchased insurance many times in the south and have never been asked to show our uk driving licences.

never have to show any licence to get my insurance at the border my licence TC and wife is uk, who gave you this 'info' please as i go over 3 times every week and no problems

I think this must apply to the first time you apply because whenver we renew, we go to the same Insurance booth and they have all our details on computer and simply update the insurance dates...

Just the GC playing games as usual as far as I could see. Do not worry about, just go along with it and do what you are asked. You can do nothing about it.
