I have just received this email from Hanna at Caesar's:

The electric company (Kibtec) have asked us to pass on the following announcement:

Owners must visit the electric office in Iskele to arrange their electric account before November 2010. This must be done in person.

We have been asked to inform owners that arrival at a later date might cause you penalty from the government electric office!

If you need any advice please contact us.

Has anyone else got this email? Has anyone else set up an electric account, and do we have to do it in person? Or is Hanna talking crap?

Thanks

Steven

I have researched Cyprus 44 forum and I don't think it matters to us who's name is on the electric account as long as it's paid. I think this is a ploy for the developer to tie up any loose ends with thier electric account and it's bull about the penalty charge. Is there anyone else who has bought on a development? If so, how did you go about getting your electric account set up with the electric company. Many thanks. Steven

We had to go to Kibtec and register with our contract and passport we paid 279 ttl as their standard deposit and left a little more in the account so when we go back we will just top it up to ensure we remain in credit.

What happens if you have paid your deposit and then tenant moves in or is already in the flat? Does he use up your deposit or have a separate account? Pre-paid card meters would sound a good idea, although I'm told that Kibtec charge more for electricity per unit.

I know. And does it really matter who's name the bill is on as long as it gets paid?
