Vuvuzelas. Droning noise drowning out any possibility of verbal support to encourage teams to raise their games from slumber like mediocrity. The ball was a party balloon causing goalkeepers to perform like dying ducks in rain storms and players to misdirect attempted headers with tops and backs of heads, faces, shoulders etc. For all they contributed the so called star players should have sat in the stands. The assistant referees rarely got an offside decision right leading to early elimination for 2 teams. Only one goal worthy of an award after all that football. Bronckhorst's thunderbolt strike for Dutch. Many, rightly, thought that the Dutch deserved a win as third attempt in a final. They were a disgrace to the Dutch teams which preceded them and their tactics ruined what should and could have been a football final to enjoy. Fifa appointed the most incompetent referee from the Premiership. Somehow, in spite of all this, the best team in the competition won.
