I don't think that there is by any means a panic situation in the TRNC.Despite many peoples experiences, the picture I get is that most are relatively calm and forward thinking. However they are realistic and by now are fully aware of the pitfalls of buying in the TRNC. Does the buying process make people happy? No,not until it is concluded. Perhaps its then that we can join the happy, clappy gang?

Depends how you define panic fire starter, A debate on a forum hardly describes a panic. Panic for me would be protests and petitions. I first heard the rumour from several TC's and people that have been waiting from 2004/2005. The HBPG is also a reliable source of information too.

I think we could all do with counting our blessings for that which we do have, even if they are small things. Wakeing up everyday in the TRNC seeing the sun shine and feeling the warmth on your skin must be just fantastic. This must cure alot of ills both physical and psychological. I think one of the problems is a feeling of powerless or lack of control. When it comes to TRNC governmental decisions the average Brit has no input in to government decisions (particularly in matters of property) and no clear understanding of the output. Not that Brits should have any say on the input but the output which is often contradictory does impact us. There is also uncertainty when it comes to the solution issue. Of course, I am in the UK so I am not well placed to know the mood of Brits on the island

hi ILC,totally agree with your sentiments,no one lives in utopia and people feel frustrated and inept when they have no control of the problems they are faceing, but we brits do like to moan i must admit.after the war my grand father said that he hated the germans for what they did to him, when i asked him what they had done,he said he had bought two german cars and they had both broken down.which goes to show you cant please everbody.

cruggs, You are right. If there was an event on moaning at the Olympics the UK would win the gold everytime. That said, I believe it is an outlet for frustration, annoyance and upset that has no long term basis. Most of us do it at sometime either at home, the bar or here and it offers a relief to the bodies systems. This is something that people from other countries do not understand!!!! OK, there are some who moan all the time and complain the minute the sun or moon rises. They are the ones we all despise but they are the ones that are remembered by our hosts in this great little country. One of the first things I learnt in driving here is the thing of blowing the horn, waving the fist and mouthing a few obsenities - then continuing on. In the UK it ends up with someone killing another in so called Road Rage. So finding the happy medium of the way of driving and "moaning" is the way to live here. Right now I want to kill our builder, solicitor and anyone associated, try living on a building site for over 2 years and the original poster may understand some of the frustrations. That said this is far superior to living in UK.

Hi Happy Clappies (and those not so happy too). My late Father was fortunate enough to spend the last 20 or so years of his life in our favourite bit of paradise. 'I'm like and old dog' he used to say, 'I like the sun on my back' His message to send back to England was always 'tell everybody at home I'm living a hand to mouth existance'............. 'but there's always a glass in the hand !' Keep smiling! Jo Valentine

We love it here, we love the locals and they are for the most part very, very friendly towards us.... learning to speak Turkish we have found a great help and it makes it easier for us to gain their trust and respect... We avoid the moaners like the plague and do uor best to work through all our own problems with a good heart.

Hi all This post is in a similar vein to Ishmials so lets all lighten up and help each other, it seems peculiar to me that all we do is groan and moan instead of getting together and helping each other as the foreigners who emigrated to the UK do, they get their heads down pull together and help to get on, but it seems to this student of life that Brits abroad take great delight knocking things and their fellows. So lets all chill the sun is shining xx

hi lazy days, cyprusishome summed it up on post 17 of this thread, and yes its just a safety valve instilled in our history and culture.in a recent historicle program, archiologists disscovered letters from hadrians wall written by the romans of the time, one was moaning of the lack of beer for his troops, dont know if it was Effes though another about the lack of socks.we brits will allways find some thing to moan about look on the recent posts of poples speling fur exampel, and we now have Ishmial moaning about us brits!!!!
