We sold our house last year. At the time I didn't think it mattered if the electric bill remained in my name. Since then I have had second thoughts. If the new owner fails to pay the bill will I be responsible for this.

How do I go about having it changed into their names? Can I do this on my own or do I need the new owners to sign that they agree to take on the electic charges.

If they wont agree can I still remove my name?

From past experience, you may find that the new owners will have to attend the Kibtek office in person.

If the bill is up to date you can ask for the meter to be disconnected, then the new owner will have to put the account in there name, you are responsible for any monies owing on the account as long as you are the account holder
