live rock music or rock music bars in lapta?

am visiting north cyprus - lapta - in a few weeks and would like to know if there are any rock music bars or live music venues. I am looking for the 'alternative scene' if there is one!

Kaz sleepy Lapta didn't get its name for nothing.



JK's bar had live music on Friday nights. Not sure if anything else other than the usual karaoke!

You want the Tunnel bar in Kyrenia. Same road as the Colony Hotel......but further up the road (towards the Lefkosa roundabout) and on the other side of the road.

Ibos bar on the Alsancak/Lapta road is a good starting point but not sure what nights they have live music. It used to be Wednesdays and Saturdays but have not been there for a while.

there is sometimes events /live misic on at sunset beach club in lapta .



you want to see if snakes is playing or sultans of swing over on the east side mainly kaz.

visit the tunnel bar as mentioned (mainly sat night) .

jks lapta as mentioned for possible live music.



your band, what type of music ...rock anthems?



after looking at the web site ....3 band members all called chris ,lol

hello kav, thx so much for the info. def gonna go there. my band is called NO EXIT - we play classic rock and also write our own music. are you gonna be there - in lapta - next few weeks? cheers Kaz x

Hi Kaz;

There are a few other venues for a rock band. At the Altinkaya rooftop bar in Girne Joe hosts a jam bar. Definite jams on a Monday, and other days as people turn up. Give it a try.

When will you be out here? The charity I represent is putting on a rock show at Girne amphitheatre (4,000-seater) on 25 September and we're looking for new groups.

So far we've got Funky Monkey (reforming for this gig; we're flying 3 of them out from the UK), The Insanity (Brit/Aussie band from Ayia Napa); Niyal Ozturk and The Secret (huge in the Turkish charts). We're looking to sign up others, so you'd be welcome to audition. Other live groups (sorry, no backing tracks) are also welcome to join in.

So far, we have an evening/night gig; anyone new joining will be playing late afternoon.

Hal9000, why did you and Scruffdog originally ask Snakes then back in June? he records most of his own backing tracks in his studio, playing drums, base, lead and keyboard, he was asked to perform Pink FLoyd (The Wall, Shine On, Money etc) All of a sudden you seem to be against backing tracks!!!!!!
