This is what I wrote . you can contact the Guardian to report errors and inaccuracies. Please do so.

It is the usual displacing of 200,000 Greek Cypriots and the invasion by Turkey

userhelp@guardian.co.uk

This is what I replied

Please ask your reporters to check their facts before publishing untruths. The Greek propaganda machine is very well oiled but is all lies. Check your own reports dating back to 1963 and 1974 you had repoorters in situ. I am not Tuirk Cypriot I am British and ashamed to be so when Britishreporters do not publish the truth

I so agree with you.I constantly get angry when I see or hear the `Invasion of Cyprus`it was no such thing the Turks only came to protect there own as a minority race, had they not there would probably be no such thing as a Cypriot Turk left and it is about time the media got things a little less pro GREEK Cypriot.Still as the saying goes what goes round comes round and there day will come!!

it has to be said:

there are reasons why turkey gets a bad press over cyprus and the lopez bandwagon chickened out

the trouble to the southeast ie the ppk has the self-defined euroleft lumping them all together

with other favoured causes such as the palestinians etc

while race memories are stirred eg of islamic europe and the "reconquest" of spain,

the crusades and tribalism (but never mind the west blowing up serbia, iraq, afghanistan)

and the ancient greek world (but not bankrupt "greece") was a foundation for europe's culture/belief systems,

so the unthinking assumption is that the greek cypriots deserve membership of the civilized world

notwithstanding the death squads of eoka b, illegal and cruel isolations, and idiotic tank purchases

france and germany view turkey as an unwelcome trojan horse

set to propel that country together with britain into the leading role within the eu,

germany/france 130 million, britain and turkey 130 million strong and growing

Andre,

It not just Britian who is in favour of Turkey joining the E.U. I was watching a program recently with euro MP's talking about it. They are saying if the EU fails to let in Turkey then they will have to re write all their rules/values and stuff. They felt it would be unfair to exclude them. Turkey has now completed I believe quite a few chapters of the reqired list. The problem still is with the Cyprus problem and not opening its ports ect.

If they did that they would be more than half way there. I believe turkey will join at some point.

I think Turkey just needs to make her choice, the EU or the TRNC? It can't have both.

william,

as you must know turkey has stated time and again that cyprus is not "negociable"

one minor reason is the eu accession process is already nobbled by leading lights,

france and germany: the word sarkozy used was "inappropriate" (2007),

while turkey already enjoys a valuable free trade agreement with the eu

also turkey's relentless drift towards iran bodes ill for its application

and the eu is in no position to absorb a vast new member with so many poorer people

(now where did I put those tins of kit-e-kat?)

turkey is at last boxing clever and may well enjoy both the eu and its oinvestment in cyprus:

while the ak is keeping faith with its country business voters by pressing on with its "application",

turkey's flexibility is allowing it to seize the "moral high ground" over the stumbling cyprus talks

and turkey has ever-expanding relations with russia, its huge energy-rich northern neighbour,

which is after all supposedly south cyprus' "best friend"!

Andre, is the kit-e-kat for use in the East or as supplements to the financial hand outs, given away free, in the UK?

I think the past has proven beyond any doubt that the only "best friend" that Russia has is - Russia! A big and potentialy dangerous land of cash stuffed suitcases, just waiting for CTA to get back on its fleet.

waddo,

kit-e-kat? exclusively for consumption in the uk, a neighbour reputedly lived on it

russia potentialy dangerous? I wasn't making any moral judgements dressed up as facts

and cta getting back on its feet? it is just possible but only in theory, I suppose
