When a tread is closed because of bad behaviour why can that whole thread not be removed form sight altogether. It is still visible to see who slanders who and why..I for one think in this day and age the whole Thread should be removed Just my thoughts !

RE msg 1, spider: Many threads start with a couple of interesting and/or harmless posts - and then derail into a slanging match number xxx. I think the moderators should have the power and will to close threads as soon as that happens. Or even better: more often they, the moderators, should remove the text of unacceptable or hijacking posts completely, writing "Message deleted by moderator" in the free space. That'll teach and annoy the small bunch of troublemakers on C44. It may be the only way to keep threads more or less on topic.
