| Simon Shinerock is an Estate Agent in the UK. After trawling through reams of usless information I still can't see what Julie is whittering on about. Choices Estate Agents operates a Property Investment Club. The cost is £250 plus vat for a lifetime membership plus £60 per annum plus vat while you remain active. If you go on to buy one of their directly sourced below market value properties there is an additional commission of 3% plus vat. More fool anyone who signs up as all they really send you is properties that are up for auction. For those on this board, I have never buried money anywhere and think that either Julie is either going through a manic depressive state again or is just drunk this evening. For those who forgot, or unaware of Julie, she lost £10k to Unwins when SHE backed out of a sale. She got most of the money a couplke of years later back but wasn't really entitled to it under the terms of sale she signed. |

| Well, thank you for the explanation, Timothy Cadman. Good Lord - personally, we've only got a holiday home (bought, incidentally through Unwins, off-plan and with no problems) but I can't wait to get rid of it. Anyone want a HUGE one bedroomed apartment in Alsancak - and I do mean HUGE - but only one bedroomed? Jean |

| Doyen....we've all been hearing that for years ! All those estate agents promises of guaranteed investment returns of 25% in a year.....didn't really happen did it? Most people who bought after 2006 in TRNC have ended up selling at a loss or barely covering their investment costs......admittedly the general downturn in the worldwide property market hasn't helped ! But what do you mean by "you'll make big money in a year or so. "? Is that a year..2 years...10 years....? You may be right (eventually),but it will take some massive changes to take place in the TRNC beforehand, and I believe that most people aren't prepared to take that gamble. |

Either state what news you have and what current action is being taken or leave off with the messages. Many on here are looking for good advice and support and you appear to be toying with peoples feelings and hopes. If you can't say anything constructive maybe its best to say nothing at all? |

Unfortunately I own a Medview home and would like to know what is going on and where Julie has got her information from and if there is any truth in what she is saying. Unfortunately Julie has decided she is not telling at the moment, leaving us all wondering why she started the thread in the first place. The butlers wife |

| Julie, Didn't you back out of a contract with Unwins?, you complained(unfairly in my view), they refunded their commision(£3k), but the builder quite rightly refused to refund the remainder. You seem hell bent on trashing the TRNC,but seem to spend 24/7 on this forum, just what is your problem?, do you have a life?. |

| Well I've decided that Julie is actually in some druken stuppor somewhere in the North of England. To put the record straight on my investment in North Cyprus, I bought a villa for £72,000 and sold it for £140,000. But my losses occurred as the £50,000 we investewd in the bank didn't pay enough interest to live on as we had hoped, so we ended up having to get jobs. When the recession hit, and jobs were no more, we couldn't afford to live in the TRNC and so moved back to the UK. As for messing around on "gay web sites"...so what? I am bisexual.....AND PROUD!! So you can't hold that one over me!!! As for "giving people their money back", I'm quite at a loss. I never took money from anyone in respect of sales of any sort of real estate. |

| Tim, I think a lot of people have suffered in the same way as you have. Its not just been in the TRNC but world wide because of the financial crisis. Once we had a nice lifestyle with plenty of interest from funds in the bank. Now we have had to cut back as we no longer have the same income coming in. Those who moved to countries in the eurozone i beleive have suffered even worse than us. |

| Woodspeckie, A simple google search reveals a lot about a person. There's nothing on the Internet that I am ashamed of, or regret ever putting up there. I had the misfortune of meeting Ms Wheeler, and wasted a lot of time, when I worked in an Estate Agents for 6 weeks, until discovering that it wasn't for me. Tall tales and exagerrated truths wasn't my style of selling. She was just trying to waste as many Estate Agents time as possible to get back the losses she had made at the hands of Unwins. She blamed Unwins for her incompetence of being able to raise funds to proceed with her sale. As with ALL sales contracts in the TRNC, and worldwide, any deposit taken is lost if the buyer pulls out. She broke the contract but decided that that particular clause was unjustified and started to kick up a fuss and slander Unwins. In the end SHE signed the contract to buy. No one held a gun to her head. She's the one who paid £10k instead of the usual £1,000. |

| Hi Spider, Apologies accepted, I think this lady has been winding people up for the fun of it. When things are so fraught as they are in the TRNC at the moment, it is not a nice thing to do. Although we do not have our title deeds, we do have a finished complex on the main site with water and electricity, roads etc. We are trying to be optimistic that we will eventually get the deeds, in the meantime we intend to enjoy our property in the TRNC and try not to worry to much about the situation there. | I think Ms Wheeler is either in need of urgent care at a mental institution or she is purposefully seeking to gain responses from people to enhance her reputation. One thing for sure, all her obscure and inflamitory remarks are doing nothing to help those with genuine problems here. She is one of the lucky ones that has got most of her "small" investment back. |

| David, casting aspersions on somebody's mental health is a bit low... how exactly would these postings "enhance her reputation"? Oh and it has been stated that they've recovered only £3,000 of the £10,000 paid out. Last time I did arithmetic 3/10ths was not 'most'. Having said that if ever there was a candidate for the attentions of SAs is it not the instigator of this thread? |

| There have been all sorts of numbers bandied around by several different people over the years this young lady has been posting. In my opinion her small loss, and if my sources are correct, brought about by her own actions, pale into insignificance compared to thousands of others. Myself included of course!!!! So all this attention seeking is just making a mockery of those with genuine problems, just look at all those loosing their homes through auctions etc. Well done for Timothy Cadman for standing up and not letting this crazy woman from dragging him down. Personally I think this thread is serving no purpose and should be closed. |

You say it was brought on by her own actions, couldn't that also be applied to most other folk !! if everyone had followed the advise given by the HBPG no one would have cause for complaint. | Equally, one could say that if everyone had followed the advice of the British [& Australian] Foreign & Commonwealth Office, nobody would have bought, so nobody would have been stung. One of the oldest adages re Cyprus goes: 'Never put a penny into Cyprus that you aren't prepared to lose with a smile!' |

| In reply to Julie's message 47, The "scam camp" are NOT Unwins. They are the builders. They arrive with their plans and brochures, butter up the Estate Agent, offer inducements to take them on and the Estate Agent is taken hook, line and sinker. The only "camp" are the builders and developers who discover that they got their sums wrong and then unable to meet their obligations. Then it goes pear shaped. DON'T blame the Estate Agent. He believed, like you believe, that the investment was sound and viable. Chase the builder or developer for your money. |

| To AJ and all Mods, If, as I suspect, that message 45 that was moderated by AJ as "inappropriate language" was about me personally, then I request that ALL massages in the future NOT TO BE MODERATED. I live by the addage that "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names and words will never hurt me." I'm to old to be offended. I'm to old to care what people think of me. I live my life and if people don't like it, well that's their problem not mine. You don't go through all your life being mobidily obese and bisexual without being picked on and bullied at school and work and in your socail life without developing a second skin. I've been insulted by the likes of Bernard Manning, Ken Dodd and Peter Kaye. The first being particualrly withering. But I survived and carry on my life as I will today, tomorrow and until the day I die. |

You can use a solicitor of your choice, however, we do have solicitors we would be happy to introduce you to. For more information click on Law/Solicitors." I wonder who they would recommend? Also, I love the way we were told "No one will ever be able to build in front of your house." Funny that as when we were there last the footings were being dug for a house right in front of ours! And while I'm at it, the contracts (Ha!) "No mortgage or encumbrance will ever be placed on the land." Guess what? |
