You could mention it to the owner of the dogs, see what reply you get?

Tried that and got a load of abuse from the dog owners. Early hours of this morning constant barking and the owners do nothing. Cannot fathom out how it does not bother them and interupt their sleep.

The dogs never get walked and are tied up during the day - the average pet lover????

I am in uk at moment, but before leaving trnc for 2 weeks last week we had dogs barking for over a week at night. Last night whilst my wife was walking our dogs, she discovered 2 dogs who she thinks were dumped in an unoccupied villa empty pool. they were unable to get help. With help from neighbours she got them out fed and watered them then the dogs played with each other before running off. Hope they are still ok, but whoever dumped deserves shooting!!

the silicon moldable earplugs worked wonders for me, and are much less hassle than what will be an ultimately fruitless attempt to get the owners to do anything. You really do get used to it fairly quickly though.

Just opposite my house, a large dog (Cangal?) barks all night, then the chorus starts, I know lets all complain!, have them all shot or the owners fined OR we could accept the fact that we live in another country and should accept differences, (A trade off that I am more than willing to accept).

The dog was here BEFORE me, so I should adapt, why is the dog barking?, boredom or is someone suspicious about, have you looked?.

Msg 15, with all respects to you , to assimilate into the lifestyle here, you have to make certain allowances, it is NOT the UK here, No where is perfect, if a dog barking is that much of an issue to you, I strongly suggest that you dont make the permanant move, babies cry here, Frogs croak,Cicadas rattle?, Cockerals have NO sense of time (dawn-Cyprus time ), The fireworks in the summer, that bl**dy airshow every bl**dy year and that bl**dy calling to prayer, If this were England, I'd bl**dy complain!!!!, BUT ITS NOT!!!, My residency stamp states quite clearly " VISITOR"!!.

Whatever happened to E.U Standards???

ttoli,i dont complain about anything,as i believe" live and let live".but a dog barking all night can bring you into despair.i saw my elderly neighbour pacing her garden at 5.30 in the morning, with the dog barking in the background.as i was going back to england that day,i was advised to leave it.

Was the dog barking at her for disturbing his sleep?

Has your neighbour spoken to the dogs owner, failing that the Muhtar?

Perhaps Lilli can take him for a walk?

There is not one mention about BL***Y CATS sceaming their heads off at 23.38.

This sets the dogs off and then they get the blame.

Not to mention cats don't stay in their own garden to do anything !!

They just woke me up.

Rant over.

Pete.

my new little doggie Muttley only barks at the farm dogs over the road. They keep dragging black bags of rubbish up the road with it going everywhere. I think my neighbour over the road next to the farm is at despair. Need to get someone to talk to the farmer. He doesn't listen to his expat neighbours. My neighbour has a field full of olive trees and a couple of orange and lemon trees. He fenced it off and put a gate on to keep the faarmers goats from eating the trees. The farmer would just lift the gates of their hinges when he wasn't there!!!!!! Thats criminal trespass in my opinion

not had a prob with pigeons since we got here. Had cra**ed everywhere while the villa was empty. Think it was collared doves though not actually pigeons, seems to be plenty around our villa. Keep seeing Cyprus Owls aswell. See them most evenings, always hear them. Hehe supposed to be bad luck to GC's. ;-) Might keep the buggers away hehe

lol. Nowt wrong with a drink although I must admit I prefer a nice quiet drink in a pleasant atmosphere without all the loud music and rowdynes. I go out to socialise. If I want loud music I would go to a disco (can't say nightclub here ;-)

Years ago I went on an 18-30 holiday with my friend to Kavos, Cyprus. What a dump that is. I threw up in the main street (dirt track). Wasn't because of booze though. I had gone in a local tobacconists and said a pack of what the locals smoke. Had 2 drags and threw up. Couldn't even give the cigs away. Bloody greeks.

You can actually go to police and Belediye to discuss your issues. That is if you have exhausted all negotiations with your neighbour to may be have the dog moved to another part of garden or whatever.

The authorities do not like barking dogs either. If you do your part correctly, over a cuppa, you may get something done about it.

Otherwise it is earplugs!!

We had this a while ago, I went out at 3am - as I was still awake - to make sure I knew which dog was the main culprit - as there are many - then went to see the neighbour the next day. I've got a translation tool on my computer so I took a note round with me in case there were speaking difficulties; well they weren't in so I put the note through the door. Haven't heard anything from the dog since, and yes it is still breathing!

Talking to another neighbour, he reckoned it had never been out of its cage and the last time someone complained about it they took it to the vet because they had no idea why it barked and thought there was something wrong with it!!! It's beyond belief.
