Currently in uk trying to help daughter with her computer. She has Vista, and it is stating that she only has 65mb left on drive and 33+gb full. On checking thro all folders she should only have around 3gb used where else can i look to see what is filling up the usage?

Go to Control Panel and then Programs - uninstall a program and look through the list of programs and delete the ones not needed

Vista uses a different way of calculating how much memory is left, so your daughter's computer may not be out of memory at all. This link explains, http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/2006/09/why-does-vista-use-all-my-memory.html

Hi japeal,

What size is the hard drive?

If it's a PC tower, there should be room to install another internal hard drive, "slave"

If it's a laptop, you could connect an external hard drive.

In both cases you could then transfer as much as you can from C drive, PC's main hard drive,

this will speed up PC too.

Then defrag "C" drive when you're finished.

Another thing to check is backup files, when I started auto backup on Windows 7,

it copied everything, using up my free space, stopped auto backup,

and deleted backup files too.

I now back up manualy :-(

been OK since.

Good luck,

Navek

Hi japeal,

Any joy with your daughters computer?

If so, what was the problem?

Download CCLEANER and run it. It will remove all the temporary files and everything else you don't need to save.

It is free.

If you have an antivirus especially macafee they are notorious for putting daily backup files in the temp folders of macafee check the individual programs in the program files folder to see how big they are and it should identify the program causing the problem
