Must be the truth - it comes from the mouth of the BRS after all.

Perhaps this McElroy should have looked in the Daily Telegraph archives to find out what really happend on this island. Too much to ask?

As it has included a quote from "Steve Day" then McElroy must have gotten most of his facts from him - or at least "Steve" should have put him right.

Newlad,

You do not reckon that this Damien McElroy could be our old friend Pvt Pike do you? The clue is in the christian name.

It seems to pretty much in accordance with his usual sentiments he expresses on all the boards. He lives in Kyrenia! He is

a journalist who writes freelance articles.

Re the quote

'In 1974, the Turkish army drove all Greeks from towns and villages across the northern half of the island in a sudden strike precipitated by pogroms against the local Turks.

A tense stand off between the Parachute Regiment and Turkish tanks on one of Britain's sovereign bases is still the closest two Nato nations have been to war'

Having been here with the British Army in 1974 don't know where they got the info reference the second paragraph.

We all knew about the invasion. People living in Famagusta were told to put Union flags on their roofs to enable the Turkish airforce to recognise where the British were living.

Also we couldn't have stopped them anyway. No tanks and very few troops. Once the Turkish troops reached the SBA borders they stopped. As I have said before in previous posts reference this subject, the British government along with the Americans knew all about the invasion.

Why didn't the American 6th Fleet not intervene? they were in the East Med at the time.

Why don't the British and Americans come clean on this and let the world know the real truth?

he should he hung up and shot for telling such blatant lies. I'm suprised a respected newspaper like the DT would even publish such bull**** from a 'journalist' who obviously doesn't proof read his work. (Before anyone asks, I'm not reading that bull again to list the grammatical errors.) I make spelling mistakes and grammatical errors but I'm not publishing things in the national press.
