Can anyone recommend any decent places to eat in the locality of the LA Hotel. Looking for day time snacks through to evening meals.

Thanks in advance

Aphrodite - a short walk (around 500 yards) in the Karsiyaka direction, then a little off the main road

- more traditional Cypriot food the owner is a Cypriot character nice location for an evening evry time I've been there treated like I'm one of the family (and the foods good).

Gary - sorry forgot to mention (in the Girne direction) Guidos in Alsancak its a drive away (nearer than many others recomended) it is Italian and the chef is Italian and he's good.

Just set back on the left not long before the Golden Lady statue. If you are into board games they were running some on Tuesday afternoons I'm sure Hans or Lilli will update you.

Rosies place is a small Cypriot restaurant with its own small beach, if you come out the hotel and turn left it is a 2 minute walk.

The Hut is a definite good home cooked food, they are only open until 8pm so stop serving food at 5 I think last orders for food is 4.45. Lovely shaded bar with cooling sea breeze and wonderful food.

Guidos is a must for night time, if its not on the menu ask Guido to make it and if he can he will.

Punjab really good Indian restaurant.

Enjoy.

"silver rocks( they think roast potatoes are done in a chip pan) we were there on sunday the food i would not give it my dog ."

Is the above based on a one off visit?

Not tried the roast potatoes at Silver Rocks but the rest food is of a very good standard and in a great location. I think we must have eaten there 30 - 40 times and never had a bad one. I too would not give it to my dog as I would be eating it myself. Nice priced snack menu with pastas and salads at around 12-14 tl but still a good portion. They make you feel most welcome.

just my opinion of course.

For light meals (Turkish & British) Jessics is hard to beat. Directly across the road from the LA hotel. Best fish and chips around!

Don't think anyone's mentioned Veni Vici, superb food. I think they do an early bird two course menu

for 28tl. Yummy fish dish on there.

Hi

Thanks one and all for your replies.

I'll give the fish & chips a miss as we have our our business here in the UK, it'll be too much like a Busmans holiday!

Regards

Gary

It was Jessics that prepared and cooked all the food at the Lambousa Comedy Club. Everyone thought it was lovely. Also, I don't eat fish but people who do rate Jessics as one of the top paces to go. Lovely view of the sea as well.

Is it different owners now at Jessics, as we had frozen chips there last Nov, we asked if they were frozen chips, the girl serving said no its always fresh potatoes, but they definitely were frozen and came out a soggy white. They were the worst fish and chips we have ever had to send back.

It goes to show doesnt it, that sometimes the food is good and the next time its not fit for the dogs.

dizzycows, for the past two years I have eaten regularly at jessics. Never frozen chips. it is a very basic place, a bit like your mam and Dad's working man;s club. No frills, just good honest food, served on a clean table. In my opinion, the best value for miles. If you want all the frills, then you pay the price.

Message 22 - Good grief woman - for a busy farmer you don't half spend some time on these boards! I see you're still spending time on other boards, running down this one, and yet you still come back on here, posting your (still misspelt, sadly) comments.

Incidentally, why not look up the word "miscreants" - see another forum where you post as "blondie' or some such - I cannot be bothered to look.

Msg 22-dizzy cows. I think you are getting your restuarants mixed up as the last time Jessics had any female staff was a lot longer ago than last November. Probably when Tony and his family were running the kitchen which was about 2 years ago. Can't say that they served frozen chips either.

Last night 5 of us went to The Cabin for the first time for a meal.

My son ordered Fillet steak to be cooked rare but when it came it was well done and the meat smelled off, we comlpained to the waiter and was offered a mixed Kebab in its place. I ordered King Prawns and what I got was 4 small to medium prawns and a load of chips and at the end of the meal the waiter asked me how I enjoyed it and I told him it was nice but the prawns were small and not enough and his reply was that there was a new chef tonight and he didn,t know the size of the portions, the other 3 meals were ok apart from the garlic mushrooms being out of a tin. We did not get charged for the steak and got a reduction for the prawns

We may return for a drink but not for a meal

We will try the Jessics again, as think by reading all the posts it could have been a bad night.

We too have been to the cabin, but never had a bad meal there, so it does go to show that if they get a different cook in it is sometimes 'up the creek'.

what annoys hubby more than any thing is being given the wrong change or over charged 'by accident', and we have never had this in the above eating places, or the others in Lapta who we use.
