did ours a few weeks ago, it was 280 tl and this was used as a credit against our next electric bill(s), i.e. we didn't have to pay the current month and had a reduced bill the following month. Back to normal now.

We had to produce a copy of the contract showing that it had been stamped, so the fee/tax had been paid. Also took passport for ID but can't remember if they looked at it. Our developer came with us so was able to sort it out. Also, the land-owner came along, although not sure if he had to agree to the transfer, but he was there anyway. All quite painless, but I think that we were lucky to have a developer who is very helpful.

name change and having new meter put are different, which I'm sure you all already know that.

However,as much as the deposit to have the meter in your name is 279 tl,if you are applying for newly put meter/coming off builders electric etc. there is the cost of meter to be fitted as well, which is £1.113.31p.

I must also point that, the cost of deposit for foreighners (turkish, english, russians, etc)used to be 279tlx3.

The 279 tl was just for TCs,which is what I paid.

Perhaps, they've not changed the rules but now are allowed to use an initiave, because the main reason for x3 used to be for turkish from mainland running up huge bills and doing a runner.

yorgozlu .. You are quite correct .. To get the meter changed to my name & get off builders electric cost me

£1170 (yes pounds) .. I did this myself & it took about 3½ years ..

If cyprusishome reads this .. Perhaps had I paid someone in the know a few TL I might have saved myself a "Bob or two" ..

Our meter was already in, which we paid for but can't recall how much.....but, it was in the name of the landowner - not ours......so we changed it at the costs I have stated already. Seemed a fair enough deal to me, i.e. the 280 TL was set against future electric charge til it was used up - which didn't take long. Maybe we have just been fortunate.

Not difficult at all, just take one of your electric bills to your bank and they'll do the rest.

Yes, then Kibtek will lose the payments and cut you off.

Pay the bills yourselves.

Trust me, I have been there.

hello, kaiserphil,

the lady used to pay our bills direct to Kib-Tek for 18 months now, she goes to the site office to collect our bills... Kib-Tek send all bills to the site office so the residence on the site collect from there...but last week she was refused to collect our receipt due to the dispute between the site office and her. So we are stuck!!!! we come to cyprus only 2-3 times a year, any other suggestion?
