Not sure if anyone gets this channel in TRNC but last night there was an interesting episode of "Inside Story" that looked at the Cyprus reunification debate. I think you can access the show on Youtube.com also. Al Jazeera English is well worth watching for balanced views on all of the world news. I would say that though as I work for the channel!

Missed it but will look for repeat. Personal view, this is one of the best news channels in the world, I do not watch BBC World because it is so inferior in comparison. I think your phrase "balanced views on all of the world news" is spot on, the key word being ALL.

Thank you ricnatmeg I hadn't visited the site before and found it useful The Cyprus video was very interesting. I didn't know that the south delivered food to the GC's in Dipkarpez.

I thought it was UN that took the supplies to Dipkarpaz not GC.

It is the UN that deliver food and fuel to Dipkarpaz and they do the same for all those somewhat wealthy but apparently oppressed Maronites in Sadrasamskoy. Most of the opressed in Dipkarpaz shop at Iskele Lemar but hey! at least it gives the useless nations (See Srebrenitsa) a reason to still be on the island.

Al Jazeera is most defintely not owned by the BBC! The channel is funded by the Emir of Qatar who rules the Oil rich Gulf State. Ten years ago he gave permission for the Arabic channel to launch with complete editorial freedom. This was unheard of in the middle east. The English language channel was launched in Nov 2006 and has four broadcast centres in Doha, Washington, London and Kuala Lumpar as well as numerous bureaus throughout the world. The channel is competing with CNN and BBC World and provides balanced reporting throughout it's coverage. Glad some of you enjoy watching the channel!
