One of James Bulger's killers was sent back to prison today after pleading guilty to child porn charges.



Jon Venables, now 27, appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from prison to admit downloading and distributing indecent images of children.



James' mother Denise Fergus, 42, was in court to hear him enter his pleas at the hearing in central London.



It was Venables' first appearance in court since November 1993 when he and Robert Thompson were convicted of killing two-year-old James.



But in a highly-unusual move, he could only be seen by the judge hearing the case - in order to protect his new identity.



He spoke only to confirm his name and plead guilty to each charge and was later sentenced to two years in prison.



In an extraordinary statement through his solicitor after the sentencing, Venables said he thought about the murder of James 'every day'.



He apologised for viewing child abuse images and said he was 'genuinely ashamed'. He vowed to turn his life aro

Venables and Thompson were controversially released on licence and handed new identities in 2001, when they turned 18 but Venables was sensationally recalled to jail in February for breaking the conditions of his parole.



The reasons for his return to prison were shrouded in secrecy until a ban on reporting the case was partially lifted by a High Court judge last month.



The Old Bailey heard today how he had been in trouble with the law twice before he was caught with the child porn last year - once for a street fight and later for cocaine.



Venables admitted downloading 57 pornographic pictures of youngsters and distributing more than 40 indecent images of children.



Some of the pictures involved children as young as two and videos he downloaded showed young girls aged around eight being forced to perform a sex act.

I am going to be controversial here and say that if you are fed on a diet of violent and pornographic videos from a young age, what do you learn? It is ok saying they knew right from wrong at ten but violence is all they had seen in both their homelife and watched on videos. They thought it was normal behaviour and were acting out what they had seen. In his adult life, he is having difficulty coming to terms with what he has done. It is impossible for him to lead anything like a normal life, like we all take for granted. Taking cocain and drinking is normal behaviour for lots of young people today. Pornagraphy I cannot accept, especially when it involves children but it is the people who make these videos that are the real villains. If they weren't available then nobody could watch them. You would be surprised at the so called respectable individuals who watch these and download them from the internet. I will never condone what he has done but I will not join the baying mob.

I agree with the Butler, this child and he was just a child had an absolutely dreadful life and I blame his parents, yes his crime was so appalling it cannot be understood and creates outrage when discussed but what I have trouble dealing with is this....both Venables and Thompson had to be punished but to put them in a prison or borstal doesn't help, it just creates more problems, they are not taught that their crime was purely evil, instead they get thrown into the middle of a violent, drug taking, brutal institution....and the out come is ...well he is back in prison again, these boys should have been locked away in a different enviroment and taught good from evil, that is the only way they could move forward.

Some people are just rotton to the core, he is NOT that child that is shown on the front of newspapers and should never have been put back into society in the first place. Clearly he has always been rotten he willl never change and there is no doubt in my mind he will reoffend message 16 I am with you.



Trying telling Jamie Bulgers mother to feel sorry for him when she has been denied watching her son grow up and the poor children that he has watched in pronographic material he has downloaded there should be no excuses for the sad nasty peice of a 'man'

This clown was given a new life after his sentence, do you think he was given a diet of violence and porn when in jail- I do not think so and hope any ex or current Prison Warders agree with this.



there is talk of him given a NEW IDENTITY again- that shows how soft we are and so called understanding!!



Sorry but this pice of human trash deserves to e named and shamed publicly as he has violated all his parole conditions thinking he is above the law- bring him and his family down to earth with a short sharp dose of reality!!



The family are the ones who deserve most blame as they are hiding behind us taxpayers living a decent life when we have to WORK for it!!



Put him in a cell in Walton Jail Liverpool with the Scousers who are serving life and watch him squeal!!

what he has just been tried for was down loading images ,im all for putting him away forever, are you going to put every person away for life and through away the key that download child porn because you better build alot more prisions.



British comedy actor Chris Langham has won an appeal to have the sentence reduced in his conviction for downloading indecent images of children from the internet. Originally sentenced to 10 months in prison, Langham's sentence has now been cut to 6 months, and he is set to be released today.

Yes he was 10 years old when he MURDERED a defenceless child less than half his age and what did he and his family get- protected by the Law. A Law now that he has chosen to go against so he should feel the full force of it.

I had a nephew (he was not as young as Jamie Bulger) but he was murdered- why because he jumped the queque at a KFC in London aged 14 years!

Now perhaps you can see why I do not share anything but Biblical Justice for these 'people'

there are still many people out there who are in the same state of mind as Venables I know Ive had to deal with them in my job.



some children have no chance due to social upbringing etc etc and some people are born just plain evil Lots of people brought up normally whatever that definition is! are out there as sick peverted individuals

When dealing with them on a one to one basis I can assure you that you wonder if its yourself going crazy just talking to them



There is only one way to keep these people away from society and that is exactly it, away from society and in HMP for life. Castrating them will not make any differance to what they do and although we have to be seen to have a duty of care to these people ! we have a bigger duty of care to protect the innocent and the people exploited in the videos/dvd etc.



Our hands are tied many would still want old fashioned punishment but we are never going to get it back . Just take them out of society to protect the innocent

then give the judges the right to put them away for life, they are only working on there guidelines im sure they would like to give more,honestie you know that 20 years ago there was not a wing for these people, there was on the wing just 1 floor, now not only have they got there own wings but there own prisions
