Double world snooker champion Alex Higgins died on Saturday at the age of 61.



he lost his life after his battle with throat cancer. got it from msn.

Yes its a shame as he was the one who in my mind brought snooker to life.

Lovely colourful character, will always remember the Bobby Davro skit off him with about 3 ciggies between each finger!!

Most exciting and entertaining snooker player ever, sad that hes gone but he did live life to the full if you can believe everything you hear.

He will be sadly missed by all on this island.



He will always be held in fond memory not least for his hell raising with Marlon Brando, in Ballycotton, Co. Cork during Brando's last movie shoot.



If you can get to 61 with his life style, there is hope for us all!

Played him for £20 at snooker in my local in Blackpool i never potted a ball, a true gent always had time for the kids he was and always will be a peoples champion R.I.P. Alex

Well I met this guy once he was visiting my neighbour and carrying a snooker cue as they were going to play in Peterborough. I did not know the guy I just said to him you will never master that game..he glared at me, my neighbour educated me the next day. Yes its very very sad but will the youngsters learn any sense from these sad early deaths which could be attributed to smoking....I think not
