Firstly A BIG thank you to Des for donating Ismail and family a fridge and Keith for offering to deliver it, I just wish you could see the happiness this will bring to this family. A family, as we all come from, but they have nothing, all their money is going on Ismail, they make sure the 3 children eat, but the parents will go without. I am asking all members if they would add one extra item to their weekly grocery, a tin of tomatoes, baked beans, tuna, packet pasta, milk etc or even washing up liquid or bleach, toilet rolls, - these are absolute luxury items to them, essentials to us. Just imagine not having any cleaning materials, toilet rolls, soap, especially this weather! Or donate your loose change, and we can fill that fridge with fruit, veg, eggs, butter, cheese, and even meat. Guidos have kindly offered to be a drop off point in the west, the Cheshire Homes Ozankoy in the East or contact us or Lee and we can make other arrangements, so Please Please help Thank you

Thank you Barbara and Bob, I can collect from you if you prefer 0533 838 9476 (Diane), I live in Ozankoy. The Cheshire Homes are at the Bellapais roundabout near the Ozankoy football stadium. If you come from Ozankoy, come past Mosque on left, round past Liaisons, left past Old Mill and carry on on this road, leads out of village past Dream Castle. At the roundabout go round towards Girne and it is immediately on your left. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.

Judyr and Billyboy1 There is an article in Cyprus To-day about Ismail with photos, he has an 18mth sister and almost 3yr old brother. His arm has healed well and he himself has adjusted very well, Lee has been wonderful with all the fund raising and running around he has done. This week Dr Ali at the Cheshire Homes, examined Ismail, the next stage to getting him an artificial arm. .. Hopefully Lee will get in touch with you billyboy and advise what would be suitable to bring over. I know Ismail had such fun painting the other day. One of those bumper painting and dot to dot books would be ideal for him.

Message 7, Ismail is the little boy who lost his left arm in a tragic accident, when he was age 4. The burden and expenses for the family have been enormous, and the stress and upset. They are a wonderful family with nothing. Very close and loving, and live the most simple life. Thanks to so many kind people here, they now have hope, and there is alight at the end of the tunnel for Ismails prostesis. The kids would love some toys please, we took them over a bag of toys in May,and it was like the Xmas they had never had. The children are age, Ismail is 6 in Sept. Yusuf the youger brother is 3, and the little sister Fatma is 2. My Phone number is 0533 843 6539, Unfortunatley they live quite a distance away, alomost on the border nr. Famagusta, So we do not get across to them as often as we would like to. Also we have to have our interpereter available. Thank you to all of you for your kindness.

Dunromin would you rather have a gift of loo rolls or the use of newspaper at best, you do not realise what is normal to us is luxury to them as Lee has said above.

msg 13 i think what dunroming may be implying is that they may not use loo rolls as most Muslims will clean themselves with the water from the jet in the toilet and may be offended by them. i could bring some bits and pieces into where i work tomorrow if you could collect from me as i can't get to Cheshire homes as i finish work at 6pm and can't get to Guidos. please call me 05338347557 to discuss if ok i work in Karakum thanks Denise

If I may play Devils Advocate here - whilst it is tragic the little boy lost his arm, why does that make the family any poorer than hundreds of other families? His dad is a wage earner, and the tragedy hasn't stopped them producing two more children whilst in straitened circumstances, NOTHING is more demanding and expensive than children. If Ismail's truncated arm has healed well, and he now awaits a prosthesis, what are the extra expenses especially for him (it is said all spare money goes on him), there is nothing more that can be done now until he has his arm, is there? If they have a garden, vegetable seeds would be a good offering surely - as there is nothing easier to grow than lettuce potatoes, tomatoes (in fact you don't even need a garden, a plethora of veg can be grown in pots, or anything else that holds soil). I am not being hard hearted, I just wonder why they have so little, yet are expanding their family. Perhaps someone would put a link to the article mentioned......

I think that everyone involved in the NAFI campaign is to be congratulated for their efforts so far. Without being too controversial and without wishing to divert from the original thread, could I just ask if anybody knows whether the Ministry of Health has provided any financial/medical support to Ismail and his family ?? If not, why not ? Keep up the good work all Regards Paul

They exist on 600 tl a month, the expenses that have already been incurred for the amputation have to be paid off, Ms Garnet Ismail had his arm amputated after the last baby was born, if you look at the next press release maybe you will eat your words.

Ms Garnet, The dads wages are well below the minimum wage, due to very high medical bills, His Boss financed it but expects money,s to be repaid. Yes they do have a garden and are very very proud of the veg that they grow, (that takes water) and that cost's. Please note the other children where born Prior to the tragic accident. I seem to recall a rather strange thread from you once before, (if I am wrong then I apologise) And yes you are being hard hearted, Very shortly I am about to start a new topic.with regards to Ismail, Our fund raising for Ismail and Chesire Homes as only just begun. We have a long way to go.

MSG 24: What you should be asking, MS, is who is making money from this appeal. I have no doubt that the "admirable Johnny Lee" (not by description, but one that I wholeheartedly agree with) has only one aim im mind, to help Ismail and his family, there are others that see an opening to "make a buck" Some of us know them, some of us don't, as the saying goes, "you can fool some of the people most of the time, you can fool most of the people some of the time, you can't, however, fool all of the people all of the time". The idiots who will attack me for this post are the ones to watch,no matter what they say, or their mentors tell them to say. ps my donation is already in the tin!

| "Ismail is the little boy who lost his left arm in a tragic accident, when he was age 4" "Ismail is 6 in Sept. Yusuf the youger brother is 3, and the little sister Fatma is 2" "Ismail had his arm amputated after the last baby was born" Denizen, I am too long in the tooth not to know what you say, ergo I agree. I also agree with msg 26, and resent the bullying in msg 21. Having family in TRMCCyprus, and NOT needing the world to know of any largesse on our part, it remains private as to what we have contributed, and what we contribute weekly to many causes, not least an orphanage and certain individuals. I would say the analogy applies if you give someone a fish, you feed them that day, give them a net, they can feed themselves.......OBVIOUSLY it is deeply sad, but more families could be helped rather than just one.....the wages are appalling, we all know that. Whenever a nerve is hit, abuse obtains - rather than constructive criticism or query being accepted or answered.
