Ferrari fined $100,000 for "team orders" allowing Alonso to pass Massa and go on to win in Germany......Fine is peanuts in the scheme of things.... they should be docked points.....their interference effected the race outcome...Would Vettell have caught and pressured Alonso whilst Massa held them up?? ... would Alonso have managed to find a way past Massa ??...let them race, look at Redbull the other week, both contenders for world championship, proper having it & Hamilton & Button had a close shave ... thats racing

I agree, Ferrari Team should be docked points, perhaps not the drivers as they were only following "team orders" after all. We do not know what is written in their contracts....

F1 as a 'racing' spectacle died years ago sadly.Bike racers make do with pit boards so why don't they go back to that?

Have to agree. It makes a mockery of the term 'racing'. A $100k fine in a sport that is funded by tens of millions of pounds is a joke. Both drivers should have been disqualified and made to start from the back of the line at the next GP. Paul

Massa did what he was told: No punishment. Alonso benefited and no doubt, somehow "engineered" this result: Disqulaification for 1 race and loss of 25 points. Rob Smedley: Banned from F1 for 2011 season. Ferrari: Docked 45 points. F1: Make the rules absolutely clear, and donate the $100,000 to a charity chosen by Massa. Rant over!

The Ferraris were by far the superior cars on the day . That was obvious to everyone. Does it really matter what order they finished in ? Why would they risk crashing both cars and winning nothing? Team tactics have always been used in F1. This sounds like a touch of sour grapes here as Lewis and Jenson didn't make the podium !

Suitable Charity nomination: The Distressed F1 Drivers' Fund? Hit them where it really hurts... back of grid for rest of season. We all know it goes on... I think Massa deliberately made the manoeuvre obvious so that there could be no doubt... can't think of any other reason he would have done it like that... can you? Let's face it they only have to invent special passwords to hide their intentions. Do away with radio links? Maybe but they could use the pit boards to do the same... Only real solution is one car per team... like that's going to happen.

Vincent Agree that Ferrari were by far the better cars on the day. However, team orders are supposed to be a thing of the past. You either abide by the rules or get punished...simples !! As Steve says at message 4. GP has become a 'procession' and lacks excitement - unless of course you get a bit of rain Moto GP is far more exciting and 'racing' in the true sense of the word. Paul

The data from Massa,s car shows 50% throttle for 500 metres at same time Alonso passed him.Maybe his foot slipped off the pedal? Maybe i,ll win the lotto next week.

This behaviour should not be tolerated and the spin offs (forgive the pun) that have little to do with actual racing are massive ! imagine a betting consortium laying down thousands of pounds for Massa to win !!!! which he clearly should have done ! also they must have been "team orders" as Massa didnt seem too happy did he ?

Snakes, Correct in what you say, not just for Alonso to win the world championship but if the chief mechanic had a bet with a few grand on Alonso to win, that makes it even more illegal. You only had to look at Massa's face to see what was said to him.

Dee agree with you, Alonso is a spoilt brat who has been throwing his toys out of the pram in the last few races. A win for Massa would have boosted his confidence after last year's crash. Ferrari were the better cars but that doesn't make their actions laudable. They are CHEATS! It would be interesting to see how McLaren would be punished for the same actions. Ferrari seem to be like Caesar's wife, above the law!

Well, the answer is simple.... stop watching it and eventually if enough stop tuning in then the whole 'F1' show will gradually fail. It used to be exciting, in the Senna/Prost era for example, but now too many fixes are involved. Alex Ferguson is not involved is he?? They don't call him Mr. Fixit for nothing!!

The real racing has been very good when it's been allowed to flourish... the cars' superiority to and fros at times and this makes for an air of uncertainty which is good... then team orders come and spoil the spectacle. At its most basic level what happened in Germany is dishonest race fixing and should not be allowed to stand.

I dont care much for F1 but as some friends were going to The Paradise to watch it I thought I would meet them there. I decided to make it interesting by having a £10 each way bet on Massa at 25-1 and was disgusted by the cheating. Wont watch it again, as this sport makes cycling honest. Michael

It's not insignificant that Ferrari caused the introduction of the 'no team orders' rule in 2002 (Barrichello and Schumacher) and it's Ferrari caught abusing the rule now....

Mass didn't do anything wrong all, it puzzles me why you think he should be punished, this is similar to Shui/Rubino and Shui/Ervine do you see a red pattern here? It's time the FIA (Ferrari International Assistance) stopped this happening, Massa could of been more desrceet but I think this was his point... Well done Massa for doing as he was told... Ferrari need pulling down a peg or 2, yes we want them in F1 but we don't need them... come on take the points off Alonso & well done Red bull for letting their guys fight...
