How do you define the best club?

The most successful?

The one with the largest fan base ?

The one with the largest turnover?

The one who triumphs against the odds?

Personally i'd hate to support a team like Man Utd Too many plastics

Oh and New Lad your lot are from Salford not Manchester

Prof - Define "best" if you do it by trophies won and success in England then Man U are obviously by far the best with Liverpool a close second. Man City don't even come into this rating as their trophy room is still empty. Obviously as real footy fans go we all have our "Best" the teams WE support and those whom we don't like in which case this discussion could go on forever and never come to any real conclusion.

Man Utd have had some great players over the years.. too long a list to go into, but there have been too many times that 'injury time' has been extended if they are losing... or cut short if they are winning... Spurs goal in 89th minute was way over the line but was not given.... bookings aren't given.. Rooney rants as refs but hardly ever gets booked, Ronaldo was the same, diving but never picked up for it... the real test for Man Utd will be when Ferguson leaves and they don't have his influence over the refs to rely on. Then we will see. As for the money thing with City... teams like Utd have had all the CL money for years now, they have had bucket loads more to spend than the average PL team, they just don't like it now someone else has more to spend. Should be an interesting season.

Message 9 - Tim: Salford has a MANCHESTER Post Code and therefore United IS A Manchester Team. Always has been and Always Will be. Message 14 - United have money, that's not an issue, however SAF has stated he is going to stop the unnecessary big money transfers and will once again turn to United Football academy junior stars to prove his point. The United class of 99 are still to this day one of the best EVER.

Message 16 thats a bit weak - relying on the postcode

Salford is a standalone bona fide City

What is there to be ashamed of ?

United always get called Salford around our way

Winds the United fans up for some reason

I'm looking forward to my trip to Manchester and Salford this season Bring it on

Up the pool

United played Blackpool last match, when they where in the second division 1974/75 season.I think there were 58,000 at O.T. and i was one of them.I believe the score was 4-1 to United,

Good points mostly and as a Liverpool Fan I have to concede that Man UTD is the best club at the moment- not for too long though!!

They have:

Best Manager

Largest attendance for home games

Largest Income

Worldwide Fans

Regularly win things

Attract best players

Trophies .............................

Yes it hurt me to say the above but its true, and hope for a resurgence at other end of East Lancs Road.

The river Hull seperates West Hull from East Hull. The river Hull is a tributary that runs to the river Humber and then into the North sea.Hope you havent nodded off, lol.

As you can guess my visits to Hull are infrequent - only when the Tangerines are in town

I suppose at what 70 miles away you live closer to The Theatre of Dreams than the majority of the STs LOL

I refer to message 14 and 15. It seems that I am to watch another season where refs are in the pocket of beetroot face. When 1 goal each, and Fulham looking likely to score, the ref took no action whatsoever as Man U used blatant fouls right across their backline to stem the tide of attacks including failing to give one obvious penalty. He also manages to give a penalty to Man U which was clearly an unavoidable contact by Duff which did not hinder any chance for Man U. Then, when the game is due to end with no Man U win the ref comes up with 4 minutes of extra time. There was no apparant time wasting nor significant stoppages. Until football worldwide cleans up it's act with regard to referees deliberately and unfairly manipulating results it will not be possible for fans to have any sensible debate as to best teams.

i still do not change my message on message 36.

man Utd are all those things but hey season has just started and Chelski already have 2 points more and a thing called superior Gaol Difference. But not to panic they do the same thing every season whack in loads of goals in first few games then dip!

Newlad, dont see much happening with Everton!!

I am keeping my counsel until after the game at Man City tomorrow as i feel will be a cracker and a few goals- obviously for the Reds mind you what team is Roy going to send out I wonder with an important away game on thursday in Turkey !!

I know the League is not won on 2 games but whats happening at Villa, 6-0 by Newcastle after winning 4-0 previous week!! Well done the 'Toon'

Seasiders sorry about your drubbing , but then it shows how improved Liverpool are by gifting the Gooners with a goal!!

Spurs win again although a bit of controversy, the bottom 3 already have a shaky look about them though!!

Liverpool to be on 4 points !

well the "proper reds" have a game on now ...beaten at wastelands and heading to turkey in a tricky fixture ....surely they wont get knocked out in qualifying rounds? nahh !

and thinking that potentailly chelsea ,arsenal and united in any order will be top 3 ???

then potentailly improvement of city as title contenders ?iprovement or not of totebham (i think they had their best season and will drop back a place or two) and emergence of everton this year ...wow liverpool may not get the fourth spot ......now that would be unthinkable surely ,lol

relegation form so far

At least Fergie will benefit from his visit to the Manchester teams ground last night, he should have taken Nanni with him for a lesson on taking penalties!!

Gazmufc,

All players miss penalties, even the best in the world.Fulham deserved a draw on Sunday,2-2 was a fair result in my opinion.United will have their hands full to finish top four this year,

Paul.

kav, i cant argue with you. That performance was terrible. They played some bad games last year but i think that last nights was the worst i have ever seen them play.
