Another programme warning people about the pitfalls of buying abroad.

Bulgaria, South Cyprus, Spain. (no mention of TRNC) This focused on the hard sell methods used by a company called MRI at property exhibitions in the UK. Telling people that the repayments on the mortgage would be covered by rental income, which of course cannot be guaranteed. Also, telling people that a local military airfield would be upgraded to a civilian airport in the near future, making the apartments in the development at the ski resort a 'real bargain'. The Mayor of the Bulgarian resort said he did not know of any such plans. Despit all this, MRI said that 99.9% of people who go on inspection trips buy a property!

I went on an inspection trip to Bansko, Bulgaria with this company talk about hard sell they followed me around for 2 days solid! There was only 4 of us out of 30 that never bought. Too much for me, it put me off if anything.

My wife and i went to Cape Verde in April of this year with MRI and its true about them garaunteeing the mortgage being paid by letting. On one development they said a large hotel company would let it for 50% of the income and they told you when you could use it. They never give you time for yourself through the day so you cannot check things on your own or see any property they don,t want you to have. Another negative point we found was they try their hardest to go above the limit you set yourself again saying the lettings will off-set the extra. After the meeting with the hard sell agent and refusing to sign they seem to go to phone and come back with extras which were probably in at the start of the deal anyway. We informed them we wanted to check out TRNC first and everyday the agent was printing off negative information and giving it us to scare us off buying here. We are now happy owners of a apartment on Chelsey Village and upto now the agent and builders have been 100%.

trevor failed to metion that the boss also accused us of only wanting a cheap holiday. some holiday they kept us while 7 pm at night. and told loads of lies that we figured out straight away. we had made our mind up almost straight away we wouldn't buy from liers. he tried to put us off trnc by showing us stuff from the internet , but not letting us see it all but we saw the dates it was from years ago . then he shot himself in the foot by taking us out at night for a drink and introducing us to a friend from another estate agent when he went to talk to someone else we told her about trnc and she said yes her sister had baught there, and has no problems. BUSTED.

I know what you mean.



I enquired about a property once with them years ago and I still get a phone call every week from them trying to hard sell me!



I tell them every time to take me off their register , to stop harassing me and not to contact me ever again!



They never listen and really do lay it on thick and fast!!

P.S- I dont think this is the first programme about them? Unless its a repeat of the one Ive seem before about them!
