hi Barry, Thanks for your response I have a Marshall JCM 900 50 watt combo about 15 years old now but hasn't had that much use it makes a crackling sound now and then but the real problem is the volume fades in and out occaisionally. more noticable at higher volume levels. It has recently developed a volume "spike" when switching from the gain channel to clean. even when the strings are damped and no input signal its ok from clean to gain but peaks when going the other way.

be great if you could help I wont be able to feel confident in it when we get to gigging.

regards

mike

Mike it sounds like an intermittent volume pot or dirty gain switch ! it happens out here with the amount of dust etc ! have you pulled it to bits yet and used the amazing wd40 around those areas !! Marshalls rarely develop major probs ! regards Barry

Snakes sprayed DW40 on my calculator as the '8' was sticky......it works fine now but I must admit I doubted it at the time
