will leave from Kyrenia but rather than fly from Ercan im flying from Larnaca can i still bring duty free back even though im crossing the border?

Not been to Kyrenia yet! Going next week! Woodspeckie if you have looked through my earlier comments i am a genuine person truly - 3 different friends have since gone to Northern Cyprus and speak so highly of it - my other friend they say has something wrong with him to come home so quickly and they are furious at him for trying to put me off. i will make my own opinion and will leave a comment on here on my return to England!

South to north is 200 fags and 1 litre of spirits or 1 bottle of wine. This is what I was told and allowed recently, but cannot find where it is written down. I think the goal posts alter often!

duty paid fags at larnaca are still about 1/2 price of UK and your allowed 3200 (supposedly). Think it's a con, your allowed as much as you want for personal use within the EU

I was stopped and asked if I had purchased any fags in the north " i said yes 400 as there was two of us " we were told that you can't do this and they could remove them from you , must have been lucky , they let us through .

Yes, I had 400 cigarettes, was stopped (for the first time ever) He opened the cigarettes and took 40 out and gave them to me. 'This is your allowance' he said. I asked if my friend could take the others back with her as she was dropping me to Larnaca airport and coming straight back. No way! I said what are you going to do with them? He said we will destroy them. Yeah, I thought probably burn them at around 40 a day! Wish I'd stomped on them, but didn't need the hassle of being detained and missing the flight.

The Green Line Regulation states, inter alia,

"The quantitative limits for exemptions from turnover tax and excise duty shall be 40 cigarettes and 1 litre of spirits for personal consumption."
