I ordered 2 local G&T 's at Ezic Peanuts Restaurant. When bill came they charged 24 tl (12 tl each)..Gordons Gin and Tonic. (For that price I could get about 3 bottles of Lord Jim's.) I disputed bill with the waiter and he told me they don't have local gin. So I asked, having stressed I wanted local gin to the waiter when ordering on 2 ocassions, why wasn't I told at time of ordering the drinks in the first place that they did not sell local gin. Shoulder shrug. Escated this to manager who too was not interested. Just thought you ought to know about this malpractice at Ezic peanuts so you don't get caught. Needless to say another restaurant we will be avoiding.

What point are you trying to make, Pixie. If you ask for a particular drink and the Restauarant haven't got it, then it is their (the Restaurant's staff) responsibilty to tell the customer. As a matter of interest, the menu was not provided until after the drinks had been ordered.

Why not just avoid drinking G&T in restaurants without asking the price? Did you speak in Turkish when asking for 'local' spirits? I know they often speak fairly good English but there maybe be limits to their understanding of 'local'... Maybe they looked at the cut of your jib and decided you looked like a man who would appreciate a quality gin.... I know it's cheap... but is Lord Jim local?

this is usual practice for them , we went once with a english/turk friend and they tried this on and he ripped into the manager about it and the price for 3 local brandies went from 24tl to 0tl

Groucho, re message 4 ....you are right......... we will avoid drinking G&T's at Ezic; we will not be visiting them again. I do think you missed the point, though. One of principle..... whatever the price, if you ask for a product and you are given something else and charged for that, in any lnguage that is known as either a mistake or cheating. Had it been a mistake and the matter resolved fairly, then I woud not have raised the issue on Cyprus44. Stsveafc, Re message 5..........Interesting ; perhaps I should have been firmer and refused to pay, but the manager was very unresponsive.

Joe soap . I understand where you are coming from . I have learnt to always look at the drinks/price menu and then order, however I will take on board what you have said and be wary . Having said all of that I have never had a problem with drinks or food at Ezic peanuts ''love the place''
