All petrol stations will be closed from midnight tonight, there is a general strike which could last 1 day or could go on even longer.

Liz hope he managed to get to the garage before they closed, looked for the car as we drove back but not there.

Brinsley why do you have to make a joke out of people posts, they are not even funny. Maybe you should have been at my house friday night then you would have seen first hand how important it is to have petrol.

Now that's what I call good business. By the time they do get closed, they'll have (hopefully) taken enough money to be able to afford to close for a few days.

Apparently, according to a friend of a friend, they had a tx saying that this could still go on tomorrow as well.

Has anyone else got any new info on this, more fact based info?

Need to get to work tomorrow!

Teresa

I've been asked to apologise to you for an appropriate gag about about the products garages sell, gasoline and engine lubricants. Sorry for the offence it caused you.

According to the 'Kıbrıs' newspaper, the strike will end tonight at midnight. But if the government doesn't consider their proposal they took to them today, they will attend the general strikes that are due to happen on the island.

BarbnBob - Green Garage is in Alsancak but you shouldn't need to go that far. The Alpet garage almost opposite Astro supermarket on the main road in Girne (heading in the Alsancak direction) was open this morning so I presume most have reopened.

Just managed to fill up at Green Garage in Alsancak, traffic blocked by cars trying to get in to the petrol station. They said they may only have enough petrol to sell for another 1hr.

If you absolutely have to top up, you can always go to the South where fuel is now almost as cheap as it is here !!

So, no diesel either?

That means we may run out of water as well.

Haha..... this is a disaster of our own making! DON'T PANIC! A friend of mine spoke to a garage owner this morning and there are no plans to carry on the strike (apart from in Famagusta). However because everyone is panic buying, traffic is at a standstill, roads are jammed and garages are struggling to supply the demand. If there wasn't a problem before, there is now!

Msg 40: Everyone will now start panic buying water and a new shortage will be created! has anyone thought about eggs, dairy etc etc.... This could be the end!

I think this is very funny, however when I can't get any petrol because of the panic buying maybe I will lose my sense of humour!!!!!

And people will stop arriving at the airports cos the planes will be dry and can’t refuel and anyway the taxis won’t be able to get there to pick people up so the hotels will be empty and no ice for the G&T and the water parks will charge higher entrance fees as the water levels drop and we will all smell cos we can’t have a shower and starve cos the shops shelves will be empty………………….

Yee Gads.

Well at least the Fuzzy Wuzzy's aren’t coming today so we are not totally doomed.

Sit back a while and reflect. Do you really need a tank full today?

Remember the UK a few years back? Same thing and all back to normal a day or so later.
