Hi all we are moving lock stock and barrel to karshiaka, if thats how you spell it, possibly late September, if all goes well.

Hope to meet some of you after we arrive, as we are leaving all our family behind.

See you soon

Welcome aboard Ian and Alison,

Karşıyaka is how to spell and it's a compound noun which means opposite/meets the coast/shore (Karşı - opposite) + (yaka - coast/shore).

It is pronounced 'Karsh-uh-yak-ah' not Karries-yakka as a lot do. Get used to saying it correctly before you learn the wrong way as it's tough to get it right once you have...

Arriving 1330 at Larnaca and then for one night to Citrus Tree Gardens. Move in on 1st September as the house has enough in to live until our container arrives. Look forward to meeting you.

Happy for you all.

I would like to ask if I may, whether you all have your PTP and Deeds?

It would help me with my survey ...

If you are at the top of the village it will take about 5 mins straight down the hill to get to the square which has a small market, butcher, coffee shop and the Park Cafe for food and drink. There is also a small market and restaurant (Cano's) in the middle of the village plus the Koop shop.

Haven't heard of Tongo's. If you are talking about Tolga's then unfortunately Tolga died in January and they no longer have a darts team.

Welcome to Karsiyaka it is a nice place to live.

joanne Its not that far to tolgas Bar its on the main road the bus runs through the village all the time also.and you could go into Lapta strip.I would say on a moped it much to far to get into town but like i said the buses run all the time cheap too.and if your walking they just toot at you to see if you need a lift. I am sure you must be feeling very excited right now.If you contact me i am happy to give you my phone No. once you get here and meet up.

Why are the Brits so afraid to do anything without sticking together like glue ? My advice would be to get there, settle in and then decide who you want to be friends with..... whether it be TC or British. And learn Turkish.............you're in a FOREIGN COUNTRY now ! If you go to live in another country you will have stand on your own 2 feet and not go around with T shirts saying Help me I'm new !

begonia whatever makes you think they wont..will or do ? My God there is a tread from a widow asking for new friends its had 140 odd views and i was just thinking what an unfriendly bunch on 44..just because people may meet up dose not mean they would click with all and with your attitude I guess they would take a wide berth.. ))) smile you might get one back.

Begonia,

Did they mean they were moving to vasillia? Thats what most of the Turkish Cypriots call it.
