The chairman of the association of petrol station owners is on every single local TV/radio channel saying there is no such thing..

There is no strike and they will NOT be closing down at all.

There are approx 70 cars queuing for the petrol station opposite the courtyard, tailbacks allthe way in and out of town. Atakara garage also lots waiting. Something has started panic buying.

If people continue queuing and filling up their tanks at this rate, the petrol stations will dry out and most probably have to shut down for different reasons.

It took me almost 2 hours to get from Lapta to Lemar in Karumkum today the traffic was horrendous because the roads were blocked by people trying to get into petrol stations.

just in and Atakara petrol station is still open.

I filled my tank in Famagusta and had to wait about 10 minutes. Al the petrol stations did brisk business. Now they can take a rest for the next couple of days.

What ever is that the rumour was it was very smart as most of the stations i went to today were closed due to being sucked dry.

I spoke to the guys at Green Petrol/KPET in Alsancak and they said they are NOT closed tomorrow.

I got caught with the rumour yesterday but i have to say that most of the people waiting for petrol were locals.

They were filling everything they could including plastic water bottles which i thought was so dangerous and the petrol station owners should have told people not to panic.

Teresa

Why would the station owners tell people not to panic when they can get great financial benefits from this?

Think about it - would you?
