Hello All,

We're looking for an older quality marque car, with a good history - maximum price around £7,500.

I'll next be over in Kibris on the 12th of August.

Cheers,

Eddie

Excuse my ignorance, don't understand what you mean by a quality marque? I have a 10 year old 7 seater Opel Zafira in reasonable condition - car is for sale because I am relocating to UK. Any good?

Hello Kim, Thanks for your reply. What I meant was something along the lines of an older Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, or other up-market manufacturer.

However, please give me more details of your Zafira, and I'll certainly give the car my full consideration.

If you prefer, send me an e-mail (eddie_burt@yahoo.co.uk ).

Cheers, Eddie

Isn't there a Merc SL convertible in the for sale section?

Why not speak to Tamer Konat at the Classic Car Club. I believe he has a number of Mercedes and other marques available http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/36233.asp

Hello Kare and Jo,

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

Karen, thanks for drawing my attention to the 350 SL; I might take a look while I'm next out.

Jo, we went to see Tamer when we were over in June, and I'm planning to visit him again in a couple of weeks. He has some gorgeous cars there, but I'm almost scared to go back, as I may end up in a lot of (financial) trouble. I'd love to buy the Morris Minor, but Tara wants his wife's Merc!

"Tara wants his wife's Merc" - which one, I've seen her driving at least 4 different ones!

I'd quite fancy the Fiat 600 with suicide doors but I can't afford it unless we sell our Mercedes SLC and not sure that hubby would be too chuffed.

Seriously, it could be a good idea to go for a classic as you will also get 65% discount on road tax which is pretty good on a car with a big engine. I also know a lady who has about 3 SL's for sale. If you trawl back through the for sale posts you should find them or you could pop into the Castle Pub in Karaoglanoglu to enquire.

Good luck with your search.

Jo

Thanks for all the information.

Think that is was the grey 230SL that Tara drooled over most - but it was a close-run thing. My first car, in 1976, was a 1959 Morris Minor, which is why I fancied the red restoration job.

Realistically, we'd probably go for the 500 SE, or the Range Rover (if the restoration is complete).

Is "Mercgirl" the lady you know? I'll certainly call in at the Castle - it's a good excuse for a beer, if nothing else.
