| Just read on BBC News that Asil Nadir has been granted Bail if he returns to UK to answer the Fraud Charges against him. I hope he goes and is cleared as this will benefit TRNC immensly. |

| LONDON — The Old Bailey on Friday agreed conditions under which a businessman who fled to northern Cyprus 17 years ago after being charged with theft following the collapse of his company could return to face trial. Asil Nadir ran Polly Peck, one of Britain's biggest companies with interests in sectors from textiles to electronics, before its collapse in the early 1990s. The 69-year-old, who is a Turkish Cypriot, went to northern Cyprus after being charged with 66 counts of theft involving 34 million pounds in 1993. Northern Cyprus has no extradition treaty with Britain. His lawyers have recently indicated that he may be prepared to return to Britain to face justice, prompting the court hearing after contact between Nadir's representatives and the Serious Fraud Office. Nadir's lawyers indicated he would be willing to come back and face trial if he was granted bail. Judge David Bean agreed to the move but imposed a number of conditions, deposit a security of 250,000 |

| I was looking a bit further at this and thought that maybe just maybe what with Camerons visit to Turkey and his apparent support for EU membership is this a move to address one of the TRNC related stumbling blocks?? Is this an example of Politics and their mysterious dealings greasing the wheels of accesion or just a coincidence i wonder?? |

| I really cannot see Asil Nadir going back to the UK to face the trumped up charges he faces, especially with all the bail restrictions imposed upon him. Any legitimate evidence he will submit, will be deemed unsubmittable to court for whatever cover up reasons are thought fit to hide the real truth of gross skulduggery perpetrated by the 'white, City, old school tie brigade'! | Msg 8; He didn't jump bail because he was allowed to leave court before bail was granted. Technically, he's not a fugitive. I have a feeling that after all this time he may be allowed to clear his name - most of the "old guard" who stitched him up are now dead. He could be exonerated without having to embarrass many "establishment" faces. The police can just apologise for giving defence documents to the prosecution and say it could never happen again. Everybody wins, another hurdle for Turkey's accession is cleared. |
