I see there is a specialist firm in North Cyprus for installing these pools. Does anyone know the advantages and disadvantages of this type of pool and has anyone any comments following installation of this type of pool. Used one in UK yesterday seemed a brilliant solution.

liners are the way forward in countries like this where builders ,well, ermm. you know, not quite the best!

Chlorine can start to make the liner a slightly diffrent lighter colour on the bottom if it is introduced directly into the pool, better to mix your chlorine in a bucket with your warm pool water first, then pour round the edges of the pool.

i had a liner pool in england for 5 years, the bottom was a brighter colour than the sides, other than that, not a problem in 5 years.

thanx for the comments so far. Certainly in the UK these pools work out far less expensive and the construction time is a lot less. Can you also benefit from these savings in N C?. I had a quote for a normal pool in NC and the construction company wanted 40% up front!!!. A normal 10 by 5 worked out at £22K

in this country they are the way forward i feel with the quality of builds here.

rocky as per my previous message if you want to discuss with nurtas i can give you a contact number. you can check the pools out on the Foxxx Pools website. As I said, they are American based but have a franchise over here.

When we looked into having one the price was quite similar to having a conventional build. However ours did take over 4 months to be done as against 10 days quoted for the liner pool! You are obviously restricted to the shape you can have & we were not keen on the plasticy appearance of the surround however the guy at Nurtas is very helpful & has one installed at his house so you can see exactly what it will be like.

Nurtas built our liner pool in a mature garden in 16 days!!! Yes, only 16 days. The pool is exquisite and we are thrilled with it. The pool is automatically dosed with chlorine tablets as and when it is needed and we also have the Alligator water system enabling us to have a 'fresh water pool'.

Nurtas as a company are first class - customer service second to none, turn up on time, top class workmanship, nothing too much trouble and we highly recommend them.

We look after the pool ourselves and it is very easy to maintain. As they are not as deep as a locally concrete build you do not need as much water.

We are in Ozankoy and if you would like to see the finished product next time you are in NC you are very welcome to come and have a look.

Now back to my LINER pool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My auntie had one they last a few years then you got tyoop renew it , she had it done the same time as i had my pool built when it was unusable !!! she quoted " I wish i would have spent 2k more and got a pool like your" would advise against it as thy har harder to clean and very delicate !! if you get a rip in it then say goodbye !!

Debatable cyprusman3, there is different thickness of the liner, and i would disagree regarding harder to clean.

Agree message 14 - love our pool, very sturdy and easy to keep clean. The liner is very thick so can't see there being problems with it tearing, unless someone jumps in wearing hiking boots! In fact - it is beckoning now.

thanx again folks. There appear to be two firms recommended being Erkan Canlier and Nurtas. I take it they are different firms. I have Erkans number but not Nurtas although well recommended. If someone could provide the number I would be grateful and when I come to NC in the next few weeks I will arrange to see both firms.

Hi Rocky - Nurtas number is 05338603088 his name is Nurettin....speaks excellent English. He also looks after the pools if required. Tell him that Sue and Steve recommended him......we know him well and trust his workmanship and knowledge of this type of pool.

liner pools here in cyprus are the way forward.

Rocky, Erkan has changed his number, the new one is 0533 832 8382, he speaks perfect English so there should be no hassle regarding exactly what you want.

cat message 21

vaughan might be a little biased,as he builds normal concrete pools only i think!

After having a liner pool and a conventional concrete and tile pool,if i was having a pool built now in cyprus,id opt for a liner pool.

The only thing I would add is that the chap that does them in TRNC ain't cheap.

Also bear in mind they are not very robust and can be pierced quiet easily.

Far better is GPR tanking but no one does it in TRNC

Tanking would be a good idea, maybe it will be here in the next 10 years or so!

my liner pool in england had as many as 20 kids playing in it at some school holiday times,my sons friends where always in it,no leaks,no punctures,no rips,i always made sure they left there knifes in there jacket pockets !

Liner pools are quick to build but not cheaper, at current exchange rates, than equivalent concrete pools. Other than that, nothing to really choose.

No issues about keeping them clean.

Liners need replacing from time to time.

Given the choice I'd go for Foxx rather than the French system.

linerpool you have been recommended as an installer for my planned pool in NC.......here in the UK liner pools are cheaper due to less expensive materials and less labour time. Are you prpepared to put a figure on here for a 10 by 5. In UK my friends gos a liner pool about 11by 6 for £11K...

One of the problems I have heard about with liner pools is that they can fail when the water temperature exceeds 40 degrees. I understand the material may start to melt and crease if you get very high temperatures.

Does anyone know if they do fibreglass or composite pools in the North please? I am only looking for a very small pool.
