Aylin has been my account manager for 3 years and nothing is too much trouble for her. The internet site is very good.

We opened accounts at Garanti in June 2007, were told to call back to the branch on our next visit to collect cash cards.

4 months later on our next trip, after finding their new premises (having closed the branch in central Kyrenia) were told they only hold un-collected cards for 3 months then they are destroyed, and we would have to re apply for new ones.

While we were there I asked if I could change some stirling to YTL but was told by the cashier that their exchange rate was not very good and she directed me to an exchange shop down the street!

Before walking away in sheer amazement I updated my bank books, to find they had slapped on some bank charges to my YTL savings account which hadn't been touched since depositing the money in June.

The response I got when I said that I would now like to close the accounts to put my money elsewhere was alittle abrupt to say the least.

try iktisatbank down the main street in Kyrenia, they are very good and have an english speaking department, on the second floor they also have a very good internet banking system, we opened an account on june 23rd 2008 by the time we arrived in the uk on 27 june 2008, the account and internet side were up and running, good luck.

We are now with Turk Bankasi in Karakum, much easier for us to get to from Esentepe area, and agree, Justina is very helpfull.

Going back in two weeks to set up internet accounts.
