Don't know Leena, but...

There is a mountain of information on this subject here: - http://www.kyreniaanimalrescue.org/petstocyprus.html

It includes contact details for DEFRA in the UK, for obtaining an export license, and for the TRNC Veterinary dept, for getting an Import license, also advice on WHAT you need your Vet to do beforehand, and WHEN, in case the vet doesn't know (and most don't ) the arrangements for TRNC which are different to ROC.

Pet Passport scheme does not apply to TRNC, so it's quite different.

KAR can also give advice on this subject - they do get a lot of enquiries, and they're up to date with the information.

Flying the animals into the South is not really a legal option as animals are not allowed to travel across the Green Line. People do 'smuggle' their animals in both directions but there is a risk associated with this. Flying direct into the TRNC is by far the safer option.

Our daughter brought her German Shepherd from the UK last December.WHAT AN ORDEAL!

CTA wouldn't ship him-said he was too tall.contacted the animal freight company in Heathrow.they arranged the pre-flight vet cert. and the flight was to Larnaca.we picked him up at the Famagusta border .total cost-£2.400.oo for the UK and 300 euro's for the south side. You've got to be a dog lover for these costs.(the family flew from Manchester bye the way)

Paul can they not be met at the boarder by the people from the quarantine ? Tom thanks for your post..friends are out at the moment but they will be in touch some time soon i am sure.

Seems like it might have to be Turkish airlines from Manchester then a wait for next flight from Stansted ? They are from Scotland.

PS.......If you manage a flight into Turkey then have to change planes your pet "MAY" be stuck on the tarmac in the heat.Far better a straight thru flight.the daughters dog HAS an EU PET PASSPORT which is legal in the south.you will HAVE TO contact the quaratine kennels in Lefkosa for you pet to be allowed into the north.all has to be arranged BEFORE it leaves the UK.you dont want it put to sleep through "red tape" problemsgood luck and don't do anything silly,it's not worth it.

Sorry but I can't give a guaranteed answer to your question at message 8. I was under the impression that animals were not permitted to move in either direction across the Green Line. See paragraph 4 of attached.

Probably worth checking with the veterinary Dairesi before any final decision is made.

Try looking at Pegasus on there details about pets it says something about 20 euro but does not say per kilo or per dog its worth a look

Also re quarantine I spoke to vet in trnc the other day before you come you fax the blood test over then he faxes back and meets you or sends someone to meet you and you can do home quarantine

Hope this is some help

All you have to do get pet passport from UK also if you can get blood result of rabies vaccine. If you don't have blood result of rabies vaccine your dog will stay in qurantine few days in cyprus, This is only applies if you are driving.

how do I know? I have brought dogs recently from UK/Ireland. Hope this is helpful.

wow Serkan if that is true there are a lot of people (myself included) that jumped through a lot of hoops we didn't have to to get our pets here. You need an export license from DEFRA, an import license before you bring the dogs here, an EU pet passport even if coming direct to Ercan (Ensures the pets health) as well as the Rabies blood test results. If this has changed then fine but I would check very carefully as the vet service tend to destroy dogs that do not have the correct paperwork.
