Have you not considered that maybe two years ago at £150 a week they were actually giving it away and have finally now come to their senses and want a decent rate for it! Who was conning who!

But per week! When our house was rented it was 350 per month. It seems a little too high for me even if it included the bills. Plus it is only small (msg 3)

Hi.

I charge £300 per week for a detached bungalow in it's own garden, overlooking a huge communal pool.

This isn't enough really by the time you have paid for tax, cleaning, laundry and water plus electricity in the summer months with some people running the ac 24/7. Unfortunately there is so much competition out there, you have to keep the prices artificially low. msg5 there is a big difference between renting for holiday lets and renting long term. For holiday lets the owner pays all the bills for long term the renter pays all the bills.

Message 5. You cannot compare long term monthly rental prices with short term holiday let prices end of!

Ok I accept that properties can be different and if its a really small 1 bed basically furnished in a poor location then no I would not pay £350 per week, BUT there are others; larger, nicely located, better furnished, facilities etc, that command this much and more.

Something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and it may be that Shayneward is not prepared to pay it but there will be others that are. Horses for courses as they say. Some people just want something for nothing!

Butler, absolutely spot on, BUT, I will not let my price drop 'artificially low' as you say. I have spent an awful lot of time (and money) to make the place as good as it can possibly be and feel its worth every penny of what I ask and if someone wants it, fine, if they don't, fine also. As I said, horses for courses.

Ok I understand if people HAVE to let their property to make it pay then they will be under pressure from the 'markets' to compete but fortunately I don't, and won't.

fair comment millzer.as it happens i am aware that at this moment in time this particuler apartment has not been rented at all this summer but this i guess could have nothing to do with the price.i meanwhile am staying in the same complex paying the same price for a larger apartment with an extra bedroom which i have used before and am pleased to be staying there again.

Sorry, I stand corrected. When he said he was paying £150 per week for two years, I was reading it as a long term rental. In that case.......no it's not too expensive. In fact it's quite cheap.

Shaneward, as Butler says some people will keep their prices very low just to compete and if you've rented somewhere for the price you want to pay for the standard you want (or better) then thats great and I wish you a great time and happy holidays.

Personally I would rather have less renters paying a decent price for what the place is really worth and still have a nice property for myself to go to every few months than have it let out all summer for a pittance. You also tend to find that people who are prepared to pay more tend to respect and look after it better. Not in EVERY case I might add, but generally speaking that holds tru in my experience.

Take a look at some other places around europe and see what apartments are going for if you think £350 in high season is expensive, and before anyone else says 'yeah but this is North Cyprus', yeah I know that.

Message 12, ok linny I understand now. I guess most of us are guilty at times of jumping onto the first written word that goes on this forum, which is exactly what I did until you'd had the chance to correct yourself

No problem, again I misread the original post.

Shayneward, I wish you luck in finding somewhere that suits you. You'll find loads of properties on here that are being rented out from £300 per week upwards.
