Just had a new Blomberg 12000 btu inverter aircon unit fitted, via Vaughan of Octopus Pools. Old unit had no gas, and was noisy (and 12 years old!)

New unit very quiet, and seems very efficient at reducing room temperature quickly. Hopefully, being an inverter unit, it should be considerably cheaper to run than a standard split-type.

Cost: £455, including installation. Installed within 24 hours of order (but I may just have been lucky!!)

The installers took away the old unit, plus all the packaging, etc, and left the job clean and tidy.

Just for once, a very happy poster, with nothing but praise for a job well done.............

What's the difference between an inverter unit and a split unit?

Inverter refers to the electronics that drives the compressor.

Split refers to the fact that half the a/c is inside your house and half is outside.

Splits can be inverter or non-inverter.

Thanks TRNCV

Yep. I got split units with compressors outside but how do I know if the model I have is an inverter or non-inverter?

Bit thick on these things.

maggymay,

regassing costs 70TL per unit, which includes service and clean. Service alone costs 45TL, min 2 units.

Chegwin and Deniz1 - will get back to you.

LG don't (didn't) import inverter equipment as the KibTek mains is too unstable.

Frigidaire may be inverter but I don't recognise the model number. Let me have the indoor unit model number please. Dry mode is for de-humidification.

Due to the popularity of Blomberg inverter driven a/c units, they are now all sold out, with the exception of 4 x 9000Btu units.

Next delivery will be in 2011.

Thank you to all those who bought them.

Enjoy your energy savings.

Just been advised that 10 x Blomberg 12000Btu inverter units were missed in a stock-take.

$735 supplied and fitted.

Inverter-based air conditioners have their strengths in environments where a partial load is common, as they are significantly more efficient than conventional air conditioners in those situations. For conventional households where each outdoor unit is connected to a single dedicated indoor unit, inverters are the preferred option, as partial loading is the common mode there. The higher initial expense is balanced by lower energy bills. In a typical setting the pay-back time is about two years (depending upon the usage).

msg 18,

Inverter a/c units can use up to 2/3rds less electricity than non-inverter units.
