Hi can anyone advise of a good mechanic who can sort our car out? 2 months ago car started 'missing' when under load (ie going up hills etc.) - took it to a well known garage in Lefcosa - told they had all the best diagnostic kit in the TRNC - then told to bring the car in in 2 days time and they would fix the problem and it would take 2 days - 3 weeks and approx 1300 tl later we got the car back after repeated phone calls. The said garage 'seemed' to have fixed the problem - but now the problem is happening again and I am not happy at the prospect of loosing the car again for another 3 weeks!

skybluesam - originally I did contact Alan and he could not cure the problem but suggested I went the garage in Lefcosa (he did put new plugs in but that did not cure the problem)

I asked as I had to sell the same model approx 18 months ago having spent thousands £s trying to fix exactly the problem you describe. The computer engine management system was delivering too rich a fuel mixture so once engine under stress or above 4000 revs, loss of power and inability to cope with gradients. Other than that it drove well. Garages, including main dealer, said they had the necessary diognostic equipment and skill, but did not. My current Bitsofmitchie is an Airtrek which at a stroke dropped mileage from 30 per gal to below 20 and engine warning light on. Learned that it could be knackered fuel sensors (expensive) in manifold giving duff prompts to computer. In all cases, in time, left unsorted inevitable there will be extreme engine damage. The fuel here in TRNC is also crap. Obviously this may not be your problem but is something you may wish to explore as you search for remedy. Hope you have better luck than me, now on 3rd Bitsofmitchi since "Baby".

Searchıng the forum one possible answer;

have you thought about the fuel cut off solernoid on the pump, i wouldnt of thought it was that as its only doing it the 1st few mile, but it has to be fuel related, do you just run it on pump fuel !

the only things that can really go wrong is fuel pickup filter/possible bad connection from steel to rubber pipe sucking air (will cause stalling) fuel filter sucking air/partial blockage/fuel lines to the pump from filter.

You could put it on an emissions tester at mot station see what the pumps running like.

Any smoke before/after it starts stalling !

I know you have said you have had the pump seals replaced and the tank removed but i would have a look in the tank and the fuel filter for traces of engine oil pointing to the pump 'O' ring not sealing properly till it warms up, oil in fuel tank/filter is sure sign of pump seals gone.

2)

I suggest you check for fuel leaks on the filter assembly and replace the flexible hoses from
