I applied for my renewal on 7th July (4 weeks ago). Wondering whether to go this week or leave it till next. Any thoughts?

The girls at the driving school got mine for me last Friday - it was just under 3 weeks since I handed the papers in to the police station.

I took my papers to police on the 8th July and went to get my residency today 3rd Aug, no problems but GO EARLY (7am'ish) I was there at 7.30 and loads of people waiting I was 19th in the book and don't forget your 7TL stamp for your passport and your 185TL, and a cold bottle of water, took about two hours.

Thanks all. Was just wondering because last year it took 3 attempts before it was ready.

Can I also just confirm that you now go in through the main front door and turn left?

I take my passport/residency fee and stamps to the driving school and the girls get the stamp done for me in Lefkosa. Took my passport in last Thursday and it was back Friday morning. Cost 60TL (100TL if they do two I think). It's the first driving school on the left immediately after turning in to the Police Station road in Girne. It's not that I can't do it myself but, frankly, I don't want to know about driving to Lefkosa in this heat and sitting in some crappy government office for a saving of 50TL!

Is this after your trip to the police station or do you not bother with that bit and all the other bits of paper needed there?

So it's still in the same place Deniz1 just past the cafe and on the left with waiting room on the right? I'm asking because I read on another forum that they have opened a special office just for foreigners and was told go through main door and it's on the left.

How many weeks before residency expires can you apply to the police station for renewal? It used to be 2 weeks but I think that may have changed to 30 days.

Message 11: no, I just get them to do my actual Lefkosa trip. They will do the whole thing but you still have to go to the Police Station in person (although they will go with you) so I don't bother about that, just go there myself with the usual old rubbish. The reason that agents like them get it done so quickly is, I am quite sure, because they go 'round the back' somewhere at Lefkosa and don't join any queues and get any numbers!

Message 13: a friend of mine goes to Lefkosa without his wife and gets hers as well - he just tells them that she is sick! This has worked for him for several years running without problem.
