I used my Nationwide debit card in the bank machines when out in NC a few weeks ago and no charges at all.

Nationwide don't charge for using debit card & nothing is deducted at TRNC end. I have used a Nationwide card at a bank between Bogaz & Iskele at side of main road, can't remember the name of the bank

Nationwide don't charge for usage abroad. I think you'll find they are the only Company which doesn't charge. Halifax definitely do.

Thanks everyone .I will definately be setting up an account with Nationwide in the UK.I knew they didn't charge at UK end but wasn't quite sure if the banks in North Cyprus charged that end.

Sunnyday,I think I know which Bank you mean -I think it's called Continental bank - at the end of a new row of shops where there is a pharmacist, clinic and "Gilda's" cafe. Thanks again. Terri

One other thing about having a Nationwide account, if you transfer sterling from a TRNC bank(HSBC don't charge) to Nationwide UK there is no charge for them receiving the money. I used to transfer to Royal Bank of Scotland and got charged by RBS every time.

Also if you have a non UK address they don't send out card readers. We set up our account before leaving UK and once our redirection service ended changed our address to TRNC - they don't seem to have a problem with it.

Nationwide use the rate at the time of debit from your account. We've always found it to be pretty good.
