It was principally The Mayans that warned us of 2012. They were renowned for their study of sunspots.
The Mayan Prophesies by Maurice Cotterill is an excellent read on the subject. You could be very right in your statement of
an omen of things to come 2012.......

| Yep... end of the world. 4.6 billion years and what have we got to show for it? A mild examination of a very adjacent planetoid (the moon) and a couple of lego robots on Mars. Other than that we've spent the rest of the time either eating or each other or blowing each other up. Marvellous. |
