Could someone please confirm exact requirements for renewing temporary residency?

Am I correct in understanding that I need to get a new Muhtar's letter? In which case does anyone know how I can contact the Alsancak Muhtar now that he's no longer based in Lacems?

Many thanks

Carol

Hi Carol

His house is the one next to Lacems (yellow one) you can't miss it. He is not always there and he has not been well but we got ours from him about 3 weeks ago.

You need original and a copy of the Muhtars letter, original and a copy of your contract stamped at the tax office, copy of your passport back, front and last years visa stamp, Copy of your bank statement. Lots of people are saying you need 9.75tl worth of stamps but this is not so. If your little pink book is damaged then you need these stamps for a new one.

Try to get there early around 7.00am to 7.30am for an 8.00am opening and get a ticket, as it is very busy some days and they only do around 28 people, they also close at 11.45am.

I went there on Tuesday at about 8.30am and just luckily got the last ticket.

Can I ask why you need a copy of the Muhtar's letter? Don't they just take the original?

Thank you for replies 2 & 3. Saw the Muhtar this morning and got our letter no problem so I now have everything ready to take early tomorrow morning.

Message 4: don't know the answer but I always take extra copies of everything

Beat me to it G.

You need the muhtars letter, a copy of your contract or kocan, copy of you photo page in passport, copy of last years residency stamp, your little pink or blue ID book thing and bank statement I just take a copy of the summary page from internet banking not the whole statment. Plus your 7tl stamp. Of course all of this is required for each person.

I would suggest you keep a copy on file of your muhtars letter we found it usefual this year for opening a bank account.

Also seem to be requesting marriage certificate according to friends who have done theirs recently but not sure if that varies with each area!

You don't need stamps for renewing residency at the police station.

Stamp only needed in Lefkosa when picking up renewal.

Just come back from Girne Police station and was told by Brit who had been there for 3 hours that you don`t need to do your " IN`S & OUT`S " for renewal.

Can anyone confirm this please?

If you are under 60 you will need a blood & TB test. I went down this morning, arrived at 7.30am (Girne Police Station), and entered my name in a book that's made available. My number was 18. I went to get a slip so that I could have my blood tests done. I was clearly told that I had to queue with everyone else (no queue jumping). i had to show all my documents to the policeman which includes :- original muktar letter (with stamps & 2 signitures), copies of bank statements, contract/kocan, 2 copies of passport (one showing last year's recidency stamp, and other my ugly photo/details, pink identity card, & marraige certificate. I eventually entered the room at 10.20am, and all paperwork was in order and given a form to go and get blood sample. I go back on Thursday morning. Don't forget if you are over 60, you don't require a blood sample and you can request a 2 year temporary residency. My advice, get to Girne before 7.30am even though the don't start until 8.30am.

Also, whilst you are waiting, on the 2nd floor where the canteen is situated, they sell nescafe for only 1TL. Coffee's OK.
