I went to the doctor in Girne yesterday, the one just past Jasmin Court, been there before, to get ears syringed, normally he charges 70tl, yesterday he charged 100tl, i dont mind paying, but i do mind paying over the odds, 70tl for every visit even if its for on going treatment, wont be going back, is there a doctor out there that has reasonable charges.

I assume you went to Dr Munur? Daylight robbery there. Try Dr Hakan Ataker - he charges the same price to locals and foreigners and is much cheaper and also excellent. Turn down the road where HSBC is. Pass HSBC on your left an take the second turning left after that. Dr Hakan is about 100 metres on your right - ground floor of a modern white building.

Dr Hakan Ataker is a first class Doctor his number is 03928153916 surgery no is 03928155204 and mob 05428537427. He will not syringe your ears but will refer you to an ENT specialist who practices just across the road..have been there and can recommend him

Do it yourself it is so easy. Just get the water at the right temp (warmish) and gentle at first spray inside the ear while holding your head over the sink, you may need to do this several times but amazing what comes out. You can get a syringe from any chemists. Always do mine as and when never been a problem.

If anyone would like their ears Ear-candled while I am over let me know and I will bring what I need with me.

Ear-candling is much less intrusive than getting your ears syringed, very relaxing and cheaper.

Check out this link if you are unsure what it is http://www.purecalma.com/ear_candling.html

I use original Biosun candles infused with natural oils.

I leave for TRNC tomorrow (Sat) night so would need to know pretty quickly how many pairs of candles to bring. I am staying in Park lane Alsancak and can come to your home to do the treatment, the treatment takes roughly 45 mins. I will hopefully be able to leave a mobile number after Sunday.

Sometimes there are reasons why you have blocked ears . Compaction due to using cotton swabs or a foreign body , you should never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear !! Yes ears produce the wax to protect your ears , but you are more prone to over production of wax due to lot of things like , hearing aids , ear phones , loud music , driving with the window down next to your ear , noisy or dusty environments etc . I would imagine if you did have a build up , due to the heat in NC it would dry up the wax . I'm assuming that you have tried the Olive Oil method . When you have cleared your ears this time , I would instill a few drops of warmed Olive Oil twice a week to keep the wax softish hopefully for the natural draining of the wax . Just a few tips i used to give Patients when i was a Practice Nurse , Hope this helps

Assuming that you are talking about Dr Hakan Ataker, he does not do home visits. He's a GP & unlike most of the doctors in the TRNC does not work mornings in the State hospitals, but is available all day. I have used him on & off for 8 yrs & I know he does not do visits, because as he once told me, he has to be available for his visiting patients.
