Any budding mechanics that could help or someone that may of had this problem. My vitara engine is fine when standing still but when I drive it kicks back. Just had a service and mechanic cant cure it although I dont think he tried. Someone said it maybe an air valve intake blocked.......!!!!! Been to 2 garages already.

If mainly in 5th gear could it be a gear box problem? Before going down that road see message 8 and just try that (You might find another owner who is happy to swap for a quick five minute test.) I assume you do not mean a Grand Vitara (they are more modern so electronics are a bit more complex).

message 5 : I thought about the ashtrays but I dont smoke.

I definately think its a carb problem as I only had it serviced yesterday, although what difference that makes. He put it on a computer but it didnt show much just that it was getting a little air in. Anyway thanks for the comments.

I had the same problem it was one of the engine sensors. I have purchased a hand held diagnostic tester for a vitara and I will bring it out later this month. if the problem persists you can use the tester.
