Does anyone know if we have to change planes at Istanbul, for Ercan ?

We have booked with Turkish Airlines / Anadolu Jet. Stanstead / Ercan.

Booking says change of plane, with 1hr between the next flight to Ercan. So need to know, if there is a change then I will have to start a fitness training programme. lol

I know about Pegasus VIA Istanbul or TOUCHDOWN Istanbul, but this time we fly with Turkish Air, Anadolu Jet

Thanks

davedee,

I know you change plane when the connection is via IST ATATURK airport with THY.

But there is a new daily service from STN via SAW Sabiha Gokcen. operating as AnadoluJet. Do you need to change plane on that too?

They are trying to compete with Pegasus on that route, have issued promotional prices etc... Seems that they've fallen on the first hurdle if you need to change planes!

Thanks

I understand at present that there might be a flight change and that will not help them to catch a larger proportion of the CTA trade.

dave / tom,

Big shame a change of aircraft is involved, as I was hoping this was stay on aircraft like CTA/Pegasus.

A few years ago THY were trying to compete with CTA by running a through service from Stansted, but it never caught on and they stopped it...

Change of aircraft is an added inconvenience, and I can't see AnadoluJet persuading people off Larnaca / Pegasus etc, unless they are planning some very special offers...

Thanks

M

Hi All,

Is anyone aware of the baggage allowance for Anadolu? The website says 15kg, my ticket states 23kg and when I emailed them they stated 30kg! Would hate to get to the airport and have the wrong allowance. Thanx.

We have an offer in of 270.00 return for some dates at this moment (and possibly less for the first person booked) and there is no plane change scheduled.

Plus our usual booking fee which means that even for just two of you there is a saving.

18/19/20 August for 7 or 14 days.

Checked yesterday at travel agents here and there is no plane change on Anadalu flight normally. Same as Pegasus.

cyprusishome:

I hope you are right about no change of plane required on STN->SAW->ECN with AnadoluJet...

If there is a change of plane, then it seems that Pegasus & Atlas/newCTA will be the main players on that route.

I called Turkish Airlines in London, and am pretty sure I was routed to a call centre in Turkey.

I picked the shortest 6hour STN->SAW->ECN flights with AnadoluJet, and asked the operator if there is a change of aircraft. Operator said "ofcourse, there is a change of aircraft, but there is not a lot of waiting around at the airport the times are good"... The price for the week I selected was £306 return...

Very poor if they are trying to compete with Larnaca/Pegasus.. Disappointed, but another option all the same.

What are you talking about when you say "your the one that will look stupid"

There is clearly some confusion hear, some people saying there is a change of plane and some people saying there is not.

IN anycase, THY said there is a change of plane, so the person that says there is no change of plane "cyprusishome" has been misinformed by their travel agent? Or I have been misinformed by THY

OK thanks for the info so far.

The reason I posted is that the flights are in Oct, they are the new ones Turkish Airways have put on with Anadolu Jet.

The flight numbers, flight stops of 50 mins and 1 hr, with the same type of aircraft, makes me think they might just be using the same aircraft ?

Hope this is what's going to happen, other than that I'll be up and down the plane asking if anyone is on the same flight out to Ercan? If so could I please follow them through?

Worth a try?

Colliedog,

Both the THY website and their call centre, as well as others on this thread are stating that a change of aircraft is required. By Oct, more people would have used, so you'll know for sure if you still have any doubts.

All of AnadoluJet fleet are B737, so same aircraft for both legs would not indicate that a change of aircraft is not required.

Thanks Zcacmxi, hopes more than doubts. Brum flights by THY, some are B737- 800 and the next leg to Ercan are B737- 700 Various times between flights, I know. Looking on the bright side but certainly with doubts.

Just have to bite the bullet and wait and see.

If I miss the connection !!!!!!

Ah well always wanted to spend a night or two in Istanbul.

If you ever do have a long stop over in Istanbul Ataturk Airport (not AnadoluJet SAW flights), then it's worth checked out the free Istanbul City Tour or free Hotel stay. Details: http://www.istanbulinhours.com/

Hi Ian Msg 25 - Please see Messages 5 & 19

I have no further updates to them at this time. Mind you it would be nice if some people enquired off us for these flights with all your excitment over them.
