1. Whilst the majority of England players sang the National Anthem, he stood there like a muppet. 2. Didn't do much whilst he was on the pitch. 3. When being substituted, the crowd "booed" him, his response was to applaud the booing fans. 4. Went straight down the tunnel, so he was unable to cheer on and support his teamates. 5. Within a few minutes of being substituted, England came back from 0-1 to lead 2-1. Well if I was on £100,000 plus per week, I would feel I could also do what I liked. Well done Gerrard, well down the new boys, well done England.

I totaly agree, the whole squad sang the national anthem apart from Rooney, if i had been the manager i would have pulled him off before a ball was kicked. He seems to think he is bigger than the team and as you say, they played a lot better without him. If he does'nt want to play for England he should do as a couple of others have and quit, he would'nt be missed. Did you also see the agression he showed towards the full back when he got dispossesed in the box???? it was a friendly for gods sake, its a pity he did'nt show as much passion in South Africa.

It's such a shame that footballers can change their allegiences from one team to another, even if it means going to their biggets rivals, whilst we, the normal supporter, cannot, under any circumstances change and support someone else. Perhaps, for the sake of the game, transfers should be banned for 5 years for anyone who plays for the first team, and a contract should mean "binding". Going back to England, it was a nice gesture reducing the ticket prices, but I would rather have seen the players give up their wages (and a bit more) to let the fans in for free. Joe, message 2. At least Zamora looked like he might actually make a difference. Rooney will never lose what he has, it will come back. But in the meantime, it would be nice if he could appreciate someone other than himself, such as the fans. And yes, I would still have him in my team.

It would have been nice too to hold the game somewhere other than at Wembley. I know it is the national stadium, but when it was being rebuilt, it was great for us in the rest of the country to be able to see England play. After all, it is England, not London.

I am told that it used to be a great honour to play for your country, and i will have to go with that. But today it is so different, players are now more media motivated. The Premier League, although being the best in the world is killing the national game to the point where young English talent is being overlooked and in turn falling by the wayside. Why does a player receive a fee to play for his or her country. When i used to play i would have gladly paid them, for the privelege of wearing the England shirt. What was the point of playing an international game last night when the Premier League season starts at the week-end,ireally dont get it.The football association dont give a flying hoot about the national team,as all they are bothered about is pound notes and the Premier League. The big boys in the Premier League better watch themselves or they could end up going the same way as the Italian game.Salary caps need to be introduced to let all the clubs compete on a level playing field...

And as for Wayne Rooney,it was only six months ago that he was the best thing since sliced bread. You dont become a bad player overnight. And he will come back. What is worrying though is the fact that he is probably the best English player we have,so what does that say for the future of our national team. The England football team is a spent force, and to be honest i cant watch them anymore, which is a sad state of affairs as i am a football nut.Bring back Steve Mclaren and lets get some flair back into our national game, Paul.

People have short memories.I remember when David Beckham was mentally cucified for being sent off in the world cup.He then scored a free kick at Old trafford against Greece which made sure that the team qualified.I can honestly see that Wayne Rooney will also become hero again very soon, Paul.

when Rooney can perform surely he will be back in the England team he has been a waste of space for several games. When hes not on the pitch the other players can shine rather then hope hopeless Wayne may perform and give him the ball. So yes he has become a bad player for England we should not have taken him to the world cup he is also a prro role model for young football fans...a p... artist I think

Rooneys head doesn't look right at all but my concern is around Capello. Capello is just too serious and it looks as though he is creating allot of tension in the players. Players play at their best when they are light and free. Yes there are times when you have to get serious but Cappelo doesn't seem to know how to switch in to a light and playful mood. As a manager I think your job is to create the right state in the players and your state as a manager rubs off on the players. You have to create fun and be able to turn anxiety in to excitement and possibility. Rooney looks like he is going to a funeral not to show off his skills and express himself as one of the greatest players on the planet.

newlad, what you are saying is that because a player used to play well, the England manager should pick him? I think that a good manager picks a team on merit and at the moment Rooney does not deserve to be in the team. If he had to play for his place ( and not just him but all the players ) then maybe just maybe England would be a force in football again instead of a farse.

Well said Newlad, these people will be singing Rooneys praises when he rescues us like Becks did!!!! I wonder how many of you were burning efergies of Beckham at the time, then singing his name when that freekick went in!Also it seems Rooney was the only player to play crap in the World Cup to many people! From what i saw except for Gerrard they were all crap, yes including Rooney.World class player who will prove you all wrong! So he didnt sing the National Anthem, sorry ive seen many men in the army not sing it,you go and tell them they did not have any passion for thier country!

stanley1, re: message 22. Fair point. However, regarding army men not singing, that's one thing, but to be picked to represent your country and being watched by millions of loyal fans, there is no excuse. Why doesn't someone do a survey and find out whether it's important for our footballers to sing the National Anthem? World class athletes when winning a gold medals, drape themselves in the flag of their country, many cry during their National Anthem, as it means so much to them. I believe that not only should they sing, but they should sing with as much pride as the All Blacks when doing the "Haka". Now, there's some pride. Watch this, and tell me it didn't made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83U_Vg1GRvA Now watch this one, and keep an eye out for Rooney at the end! What's changed in 4 years? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUH0_H21FvM&feature=geosearch

Rooney = no goals for England in eleven months Never scored a goal at the world cup finals Last scored on a big occasion in the Euros in 2004. Was very much off his game for United following the Bayern second leg So was hardly a form player when squad for South Africa was selected.

Grey - message 35. The healthy BMI, body mass index/height to weight ratio, is around 20-22 (for someone who is relatively slim) e.g. someone with a healthy height/weight ratio would be somewhere between 20-25. This is often misleading because athletes often have a high BMI due to the amount of muscle they have developed. For example, a track athlete might be 6'2" tall but weigh 15 stones. This is not overweight for an athlete, but would be for your 'man in the street' who is not carrying a lot of muscle. This is why the calculations can be misleading.I can assure you that a BMI of 10 is totally unrealistic; it would put someone of say, 5'10" at a weight of around 7 stones For example (and I am a woman - a man would have a higher BMI - although the jury is out on just how accurate an example BMI is), I am 5'6" and weigh around 9st.8lbs. I have a BMI of about 21, which is considered healthy. There is a calculation you can check on if you doubt it; try Google. Regards. Jean.

How can Rooney's body fat be 10% when he eats all them pies? Be realistic, more like 40%. The fat overpaid buffoon. He actually believes he is the best player in the world. Yeah right, and all muslims eat pork during Ramazan. What a waste of 30 Million that was. Good ol Fergie, I wander how much kick back he got from his sale?

clayton, you make me laugh. Man u fans can never see anything bad about one of their own and there is a certain credit in this. This thread is all about a player who is not performing for his country at the moment. I dont think anyone is arguing that Rooney is a bad player, but at this moment his form is crap. I am a betting man and would put money on Sir Alex not picking him for United if his form for them was as bad. But i would put double that money on him being one of the first on the team sheet for the first Euro qualifier next month. Players should be picked on their current form and not because they have done it in the past.

geoff i agree, you said you should be picked on form.so most of the england team who were picked for the world cup, wouldnt have played against hungary that incldes gerrard,so if he wasnt picked he couldnt have scored the 2 goals.rooney being used a scape goat because he plays for utd.if it was gerrard i would stick by him even though i am utd fan,its what he is capable of doing like changing a game, unlike most of the england players, who are just water carriers.i personally hope rooney never plays for england again, because the way capello has them playing rooney is running around like a headless chicken.he,s playing him upfront on his own.fergie does the same in europe but the utd players behind him know the system unlike the england players who dont play like this.as for sticking up for utd i still believe that rooney when playing for utd is the best british striker in the prem.

Paul, most of Rooney's fat is on his head, which makes him top heavy and unbalanced. Another downer for him is he plays for ManU. Now if he was playing for Arsenal, the whole thing would change. In the meantime he is another Beckham, can't play wont play, if you see what I mean.

Well at least we now know why Mr Rooney was a flop at the world cup. It appears his mind was on other things than football according to the News of the World, he has been cheating for the last year with a call girl and was even with her when Coleen was about to give birth to his son. Nice man!!!!!
