Firstly you must take your money and then you can go after taking money to nicosia . You'll take a selling prosedure sheet and fill the blanks on this paper. After this , buyer pay 250 TL or 150 TL to office for this procedure. You must need to go nicosia with ,

-2 passport (seller and buyyer)

-2 Pul

-250 TL

You also need a Muhturs letter from the sellers local area cost about 20TL depending on what mood he is in - I think the fee at nicosia is on a sliding scale newish cars are 250TL down to older cars at 100TL.

buyer and seller has to go to the muhtar who will fill out the form for you, form obtainable from the tax office. you will need stamps for him and his charge can vary from 10tl upwards not inc stamps. the buyer can then go to the registration office in Lefkoşa to get the log book changed over. this is a cost of 250tl. not so complicated hopefully.

Unless you are selling the car to someone that you trust ABSOLUTELY, or you are leaving the Island 'never to return' it would be wise to accompany the buyer to the Nicosia office, and verify that the name change in the log book actually occurs.

If the buyer fails to do this, then all future speeding fines will be served on YOU - and could prevent you leaving the country, as well as saddling you will large fines...

Fines can always be challenged, but it's never 100% certain what the outcome will be!

Should the muhtar be charging you for anything other than if he provides the stamps?

Ours never has.
