Would you believe it ?

A POLICE chief is sending ALL his 334 officers on an astonishing half-day training course...to learn how to be nice to a SEX-SWAP PC..

Chief Superintendent Kevin Sharp is taking the cops off the beat in an area battling crime rates DOUBLE the national average to help the 42-year-old married man become a WPC called Lauren.

All of his division’s 166 civilian workers are being sent on the “awareness training” course as well.

The politically-correct move has caused UPROAR in the force and was last night BLASTED by one senior officer involved as a “scandal”.

Chief Supt Sharp, 48, stunned his staff with a letter—leaked to the News of the World—outlining his plan to make Lauren’s “transition as safe and comfortable as it can be” and calling on them to treat her like a FAMILY member. Written last month, it said the PC “has been suffering from a medical condition called gender identity dysphoria”. He added the PC had been a woman living in a man’s body.

It said: “This must have been a truly difficult situation to be in.

Happier

“As from today, Lauren starts her new life and over the next few weeks you will receive awareness training during which you will be able to read a personal letter from Lauren.”

It said they would then be able to understand what Lauren and his wife had gone through.

Sharp has now retired from his post to become chief executive of Humberside Police Authority, but said he would “retain ownership of the initial phase of Lauren’s transition”.

He added: “I trust you will have the same determination as I have to help Lauren return to work with as little fear and trepidation as is possible...but feel much happier than she has ever done before.”

And he called on colleagues to treat Lauren “as we would expect a close family member to be treated”.

But last night a senior officer in Ward’s old division covering Grimsby and North Lincolnshire branded the training a waste of taxpayer’s money.

He said: “This is yet another example of the lunatics running the asylum and it has offended me and many of my colleagues.

“It’s time spent away from duty at the public’s expense. The police environment has gone mad. We give time to this while the amount of training given to police officers on law has dwindled.

“I haven’t a problem in giving this policeman support—but are our senior management so removed from the reality of front line police work that they’ve forgotten there are certain elements out there who will thrive on this and make his life misery?”

Sharp has been criticised in the past by community leaders for not having enough bobbies on the beat in an area where recorded crime is twice as high as anywhere else in the country.

Tribunals

But Humberside Police is the latest public body to to have to comply with new laws to stamp out discrimination and harassment of transsexuals.

A senior Whitehall source told us: “This is not political correctness gone mad. It’s a practical way to avoid paying out millions in compensation at industrial tribunals.”

A Humberside Police spokeswoman last night confirmed training had been arranged for staff.

Chief Supt Sharp was unavailable for comment

Exactly. Diversity training has been going on for years within the police service and some people clearly need it more than others.

We used to be sent on Racial awareness courses about once a month, 3- 4 hours of being asked what our perceptions were, then a stern lecture on 'their' findings, meanwhile control room(PL), is running on skeleton staff and they would always pick late turn on a Thursday or Friday(V.V.Busy).

When I joined, we had four stations that Officers paraded from and could therefore easily get to an I (Immediate) call, within the guideline time of 11 mins within their alloted 'patch', Some bright spark then decides, that All Borough officers should parade from Lewisham and are then genuinely surprised that our response times were dropping and POLCOLs(Collisions involving Police officers) were on the increase, and when I raised this point, It was noted on my record that I had a Negative Attitude!!, despite all that I loved every minute of the Job and miss the team.

I was an SRO at BD for 12 years (left to move here in March)...and like you miss the job and the team I worked with.

When I tell my team through facebook and email that I miss the job and them they tell me I'm mad.

It's only when you do leave that you realise (apart from all the PC, paperwork and target chasing) what a good job it was to be in (on a good day!!)

I suppose Littlenige's posting would not surprised the likes of you and I as over the years the job has changed so much....and not for the better.

The day the Met became a police "service" and not a force was the start of the decline for policing in my opinion.

Yep, quite agree,I left when they closed all Borough Control rooms and expected us to go to Metcall covering PAN London Incidents without local knowledge.

I've posted here before I received some malicious phone calls last year, finally had enough and reported it, one week later they'd tracked down the lads employer, advised him to sack the lad and cancel his work permit and then gave me the lads name and address so that I could 'Speak' to him!!!

If only it were that easy in the UK......;).

Metcall....wonder who got a promotion for that disaster.

Both daughters back in UK work in IBO's on LX ground....

word has it that CAD will be going back on borough's in the near future...think they have to let Metcall run a bit longer to justify the money spent!!

I'm in the process of taking driving lessons here in TRNC. If/when I pass I'll email you...would be good to meet up.

A few years ago (when PC meant a police constable) a male firearms officer at Heathrow told his Commander (shall we say a member of the 'old school') that he wanted a sex change. It was the fastest medical retirement in the Mets history (took less than a day). Some time later the said male was spotted on a Spanish beach having changed his mind!

Surprised he didn't make a claim for the the stress of changing his mind!!!

I have a friend who a female officer based in a London police station who couldn't believe it when her skipper called all the female officers on the team into the parade room to tell them that they had to share the female changing room with a male collegue who had started the process of a sex change operation.

There was total uproar until another male collegue (who decided to wind the borough commander up I might add!!) requested that he too was thinking of

having a sex change and requested the use of the female changing room!!

The Fed rep representing the female officers became involved and put a stop to it.
