Would suggest a trip to the Akçicek hastanesi for an pain killer injection for tomorrow. And try to keep it steady and don't move it too much. Do not wear hills as the pressure will be alot on the foot and cause more pain.

Also this might help: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-treatment-for-a-broken-toe.htm

Geçmiş olsun!

Hope you'll get better soon and good luck for tomorrow!

I broke a big toe years ago through sport, and I found it almost impossible to walk with the pain. Best I can suggest is Iboprufen/Paracetamol (2 of each, taken together, 4 times a day) It will also help to keep foot raised with ice pack on toe whenever possible. And use sticks when walking if possible, like the ones used by hillwalkers to ease strain on knee joints. The broken bone needs time to heal, so taking pressure off when walking if possible will help.

My friend broke her toe in two places last week and has had to have a plaster cast on her foot - Have you had it checked at the hospital Liz? Might be a good idea, you don't want to do any long term damage by it not healing correctly. Get well soon

I think TheBarrel means Ibuprofen... There are many differing strengths available over the counter here, you will want 400mg ones.

Sounds like you need to hire-in a serving wench for tonight!

Hi Lilli , sorry to hear you are suffering , here are a few things you can try . Its unusual to plaster toes these days , but you should strap the broken toe quite firmly to the next toe with a good strong narrow strapping tape , something like Zinc Oxide . That should lessen the pain , but you could try a ice pack useing peas or sweet corn , they mould easily to the shape of your foot , avoid standing for long periods of time and elevate your leg and of course you can take painkillers

Take care , Simbas

cocodamol, its a wonderful pain killer. They gave me a load to take home after an opp in hospital. Worked a treat.

It's a strong combination of codeine and paracetamol. You should be able to get it over the counter at any eczane.

See you later sweety xxxxxxxxx

My friend broke his right toe and never walked in a straight line again. He always seemed to veer to the right.

Liz i had a very small fracture on a toe it was" $%%^&$%^"

A big toe is worse the painkillers prescribed in 3 is the best you can do wear trainers however daft they look.

For business I wore my suit and boot plus a trainer un laced in the early stages

It took six weeks for the pain to go the same as ribs

GET help you sit and have a student doing the leg work

good luck get well at least you don't have my weight on it

What are the possible complications of a broken toe?

Nail injury: A collection of blood may develop underneath the toenail called a subungual hematoma. If it is large, it may need to be drained. To drain a subungual hematoma a doctor will make a small hole in the toenail to drain the blood out. If the hematoma is very large or painful, the entire toenail may need to be removed. The injury may also result in a broken toenail that may need to be trimmed or removed.

Compound fracture: Rarely, the broken bone in a toe fracture may stick out through the skin. This is called an open or compound fracture. Emergency medical treatment and surgery may be necessary in this case.

Arthritis: After the toe fracture heals, the person may still be left with arthritis, pain, stiffness, or even a deformity.

Nonunion/malunion: Sometimes, the fractured bone will not heal completely (called a nonunion) or will heal improperly (called a malunion). Rarely, surgery may be necessary to fix this pro

End of the day, a broken toe is bloody painful and takes a good while to 'mend'.

Liz - put your feet up.

PS I don't think Co-Codamol are available over the counter there. I tried to get some a couple of years ago when my dodgy back took a turn for the worse and they don't 'do' them like that - sorry. They are very good and perhaps I could bring some over for you in September; not a lot of good now, I know, but may be handy to keep in case of further mishaps?

Love

Best painkillers I've used are Paracetomol plus Dihydrocodeine Tablets.

No1, thats basically the same as cocodamol.

Lil. Thanks for the takeawy, was lovely. Could have done with a little bit more sauce though ;-) I'm more of a veg and sauce man now, I eat very little meat since my opp for some strange reason.

Ahhh - Lizzie Drip. I am on various blood pressure medication/statins, also, due to my family history. I will, in any case, bring you some Co-Codamol over in September, for 'emergencies'. Don't worry too much about Groucho - I'm sure we'd all like to be so knowledgable about everything under the sun

Now, whilst I would advocate alcohol as a strong pain killer, 30 drinks in one go may be overdoing it a tad - try to stick to something around the 20 mark - at least you'll be able to sleep

Jeannie / Liz,

You can now buy Co-Codomol over the counter here but only the 8/500 strength not the 30/500 which are really strong and shouldn't be mixed with alcohol.

Liz the chemist across from the restaurant has them, phone me if you need anything.

Jeannie, it was a joke.... that's why I put a smiley on it.

Lilli, The conversion of codeine to morphine occurs in the liver and like all opioids, continued use of codeine induces physical dependence and can be psychologically addictive.

Co-codamol contains Paracetamol 500mg / Codiene 8mg or Paracetamol 500mg / Codeine 30mg. Some pharmacies will sell the higher strength but just be aware that they can both cause chronic constipation so if you do decide to take regularly it may be woth while investing in some Lactulose solution or Movicol sachets (IF they do them here) Co-dydramol contain Paracetamol and Dihydrocodeine. Also make sure you don't over do it on the Paracetamol front (I'm probably preaching to the converted here as you're probably well aware of double dosing on Paracetamol) so if you do take Co-codamol or Co-dydramol don't take extra Paracetamol - a relatively small overdose can cause lethal damage. You can take an anti-inflammatory with either of the above. I managed to break my little toe in 2 places (I wouldn't have thought it possible) yers ago and it still pains when it's cold weather. Just try to take it easy and let others do the running around for you!

I find that Dihydrocodeine (in Co-dydramol) doesn't give such good pain relief and makes me feel a bit like a "space cadet". Most people I know have said the same thing, that products containing Dihydrocodeine does nothing for the pain but you just don't care as you feel so out of it! I usually take 1 x Co-codamol 500/30 and 1 x Paracetamol 500mg, that way you get the maximum Paracetamol dose and a higher Codeine dose but not enough to make you drowsy. It is perfectly OK to take 2 x Co-codamol 500/30 if you have bad pain but taking 8 a day for any length of time does cause severe constipation quite quickly.

Hi Liz

Get your big toe checked out. It's far more serious than a little toe, one of which I have cracked since living here by whacking against the bed leg. That fixed itself, but a big toe is more serious.

hiya scruff, its given me so much pain tonight, i promise i will as i am now worried, the shape of it is awful, the blackness is subsiding. I cant strap it to the other toe as i wont get shoes on. Tonight i felt sick with the pain and couldnt get my words out speaking to customers. They are so caring telling me to sit down with them but who takes the orders, delivers the drinks etc. The stairs are the hardest. never mind day off tomorrow, the house can clean itself, let the dogs run in the garden and put my feet up., i cant even sue myself can i xx
